The Royal Meckelnburgh Soccer League is the sole professional sports league for Association football in Meckelnburgh. The league consists of eight teams, representing the largest cities in the kingdom. The league was founded in 1685 AN as a formalization of friendlies matches played between teams since 1625 AN.
The Meckelnburgh league plays two seasons each Gregorian calendar year, Series A spanning February through May, and Series B August through November. Each team plays 14 games a season for 28 games a year. The Royal Football Cup caps each season in a single elimination playoff tournament, which the top four teams from the season qualify for entry.
