Mehrfachraketenwerfergeschütz 80x32/1716

The Mehrfachraketenwerfergeschütz 80x32/1716, abbreviated as MeRaWe 80/16 is a multiple-launch rocket rail system that was developed by Waffenschmiederei Ludwigshafen, designed to be used in the Mehrfachraketenwerferlastkraftwagen I. Up to 36 rockets can be loaded in this rail system made out of perforated steel, these rockets have a diameter of 80 millimetres, are fuelled with cordite and have a 700 grams explosive weight. The range of the rockets is at most 30 kilometres, with reasonable accuracy achieved up to 15 kilometres.

The rockets of the MeRaWe 80/16 are unguided and relatively inaccurate but can be used effectively for saturation bombardments against enemy concentrations. The system is also inexpensive to construct and uses inexpensive ammunition. Compared to more complicated artillery systems, operators for the MeRaWe 80/16 can be trained much faster.
