Esthar is an island in the north of Micras.
Origins and Etymology
Esthar existed as early as the Series One maps, on which it was called Floyd Island. The name is theorized to come either from Audentior citizen David Floyd or from the band Pink Floyd, but no one knows for sure. It was later colonized by the Tapferites, who called it Esthar, the name by which it is most commonly known today.
Geography

Esthar is mostly barren tundra.
History
Esthar was first colonized by Tapfer, but became Treesian when Treesia annexed Tapfer as a Palatinate. When the Treesian settlements on Esthar died out, it was colonized by Tallandor (after whom Tallandor Bay is named) but eventually fell into Treesian control again. The descendants of the original Tapferite colonists, now associated with Menelmacar, contested control of the island with Treesia, and after a diplomatic crisis that came to the brink of war, Esthar was given to Menelmacar, where it became a major center of Soloralist culture. With the fall of Menelmacar, control reverted once again to Treesia, who classified it as part of the Palatinate of the Far Reaches. After Treesia mercifully abandoned its territory, it remained unoccupied for several years before briefly becoming a New Britannic colony called "Franklin and North Herzagavina", and is now once again unoccupied.
