Sanama's largest lake, [[Lake Meerzicht]], is located in the north, close to the border with Shireroth. The freshwater lake is fed by several mountain streams, and is surrounded to the north, west and east by steep cliffs. It is a caldera lake, with the southern parts of the walls of the caldera having been sheered off in a massive explosion. The underlying volcano has been dormant since at least before recorded history, but seismologists agree that the volcano is not dead.
