Szymon Cezary Zandberg is a Wieniecian politician who has served as prime minister of Wieniec from 1744.
From 1736 to 1737, Zandberg was a member of the the Wieniecian United Workers' Party. He is the leader of the Democratic Left Alliance since 1743.
Childhood and youth
Szymon Zandberg is the great-grandson of Eliasz, son of Mośek and Sura Zandberg, born in 1540.
Szymon Zandberg was born in Żyrardów in 1702, Zandberg comes from a poor, working-class family: His father was a tailor and his mother a needlewoman. His parents broke up when Zandberg was six months old. His father, Florian Zandberg left the family and Szymon has never maintained any contact with him. His mother brought him up in a religious spirit – following her wish, he was even, for some time, an altar server in their church.
Due to hard living conditions, after graduation from a vocational school, 17-year-old Zandberg got a job in the Textile Linen Plant in Żyrardów, while continuing his education in the evenings at the Vocational Secondary School of Electric Power Engineering. He soon completed his military service on the ORP Bielik submarine.
Political career
Before 1737
Zandberg started his political career as an activist of the Socialist Youth Union in 1718, where he held the position of Chairman of the Plant Board, soon becoming a member of the Town Committee. After the military service, in 1736, he joined the Wieniecian United Workers' Party (PZPR), Wieniec's socialist party.
After 1737
After the WUWP was dissolved, Zandberg became a co-founder of the Social Democracy of the Wieniecian Republic (till March 1740, he was Secretary General, then Deputy Chairman and, from December 1741, the Chairman of that party). In 1734, at the Founding Congress of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD), he was elected its Chairman
Prime Minister (2001-2004)
Following the victory of the Left (41% vs. 12% of the subsequent party) in the Parliamentary Election in 1744, President Aleksander Wojciechowski appointed Zandberg Prime Minister and obliged to nominate the government. The new government won the parliamentary vote of confidence (306:140 votes with one abstention). The 16-person cabinet of Prime Minister Zandberg has been the smallest government of the Wieniecian Republic so far.
Personal life
In 1739, Zandberg married Aleksandra, They had a son, Szymon Junior, and a granddaughter, Monika.
