The Chancellor of Hoenn was the head of government in the Hoennese Realm.

Qualifications and selection

The Chancellor may have been any Hoennese citizen who is of the age of majority and fit to vote or serve on a jury. Since the formation of the office, all Chancellors resided at Myobudani in Ever Grande. The Chancellor was, by convention, the leader of the largest party in the House of Commons.

Role

The role of the Chancellor was to direct the work of Her Majesty's Government, and to submit to the Gikai the program of government for the duration of their term, including lists of cabinet members. The resignation of the Prime Minister effected the fall of the government.

Precedence, privileges, and form of address

By tradition, the Chancellor preceded all other commoners in Hoenn in the official order of precedence. If the Chancellor was of samurai class, they also preceded all other samurai whose place in the order of precedence derived solely from membership in that class.

While in office, the Chancellor was entitled to claim expenses of up to 2500 ryo (2,000,000 zeni, or ₢61,183) per year, in addition to their salary of 4800 ryo (3,840,000 zeni, or ₢117,471). Additionally, all travel conducted in furtherance of official business was paid for by the state.

In addition to the official residence at Myobudani, the Prime Minister was entitled to the use of the country house at Azumazeki in Yamatai Province.

Upon retirement, the Sovereign may have bestowed honor upon a Chancellor; this was commonly membership in the Order of the Rhododendron, the highest chivalric order in the realm. If they were a commoner, they would also be bestowed with samurai rank and a nominal retainer in lieu of a state pension.
