Higher education in Meckelnburgh is the fifth and final tier in the educational pyramid of the Kingdom of Meckelnburgh, following secondary education. At the completion of either high school or academy, Meckelnish students leave compulsory education after the 13th year. Meckelnburgh's higher education system comprises a network of universities, colleges, and specialized institutions dedicated to diverse academic disciplines. Higher education in Meckelnburgh is managed at the kingdom-level for metropolitan Meckelnburgh, the Prince-Archabbacy of Salem and the Grand Duchy of Iselande as one of the standardized social services.
Tuition and fees
In the kingdom's socialized welfare system, higher education in Meckelnburgh is available for a small tuition fee, Ʀ7.00 per credit, plus extraneous costs, at a community college. A semester at a Meckelnburgh college therefore runs approximately Ʀ150, while a university degree is around Ʀ300. Specialized professional education, such as law or medicine, is charged Ʀ500-600 per semester. Foreign students without permanent status or freedom of movement, by visa or online, pay a rate 8.5 times greater.
History
The formal systems of higher education in Meckelnburgh can be traced back to 1685 AN when the first university was established in the wake of the Kingdom's foundation.
Degree pathways
Universities and colleges in Meckelnburgh adhere to a semester schooling system, where the standard class is 3 semester hours in credit. At the undergraduate level, a semester "full time" is made of 15 semester hours, while graduate is 12. The completion of a bachelor degree requires 120 semester hours, an associate 60, and an honors degree 150. A master's degree is 24 to 48.

General education curriculum
Meckelnburgh law requires that all graduates of an undergraduate program (principally, a bachelor's degree) must pass a general education curriculum in a variety of subject areas. Effectively, the first year of a bachelor's program is dedicated to general education, though applied degrees are shorter and degrees in engineering and the sciences more focused.
