The Sanama Council of State Office is the Council of State department supporting the Chancellor of Sanama in their duties. The department is headed by the Chancellor assisted by a Council of State Secretary for Coordination. The Principal Under Secretary for the National Chancellery, the senior civil servant in the national government, serves as the chief officer under the secretaries in the department. The functions of the department are handled by several Deputy Under Secretaries, handling various issues for the Chancellor, such as coordination, budget, international relations, military affairs, legal review, and several other issues. The department in its current form was created in 1691 when Keysa Nur Pinito Caprici was appointed Chancellor, but traces its origin to the Office of the Chancellor prior. The department also contains the Principal General Advocate, the chief counsel of the Council of State, and the Principal Inspector General, the chief Inspector General of the national government.
