The Oportian Mérite is the official currency of Oportia. One Mérite is divided into 100 Méritons. The currency was introduced in 1706 AN, following country's independence the same year.
Usage
In addition to being used in Oportia as an official currency, Mérite is increasingly used in international trade, most notably in oil industry.
Symbol
The symbol of Mérite is Ṁ (rarely M) and the symbol of its subunit Mériton is ṁ (rarely m).
