The Port Balaine Superleague (PBS) is the sole national association football league in Port Balaine. The league was organized in 2021 to formalize the senior play of Balainese football. It is organized by the Port Balaine Football Association, though its clubs are privately owned. The league hosts 34 teams across the top four levels of the Balainese football pyramid. The Superleague also manages the PBS Reserve League as its non-age-restricted academy and reserve format.
Organization
The Superleague is organized in four divisions: the Premiership (10 clubs), the Championship (eight), 3. Division (eight) and 4. Division (eight). Each season runs from September through May. In the Premiership, a three-round round-robin season is played, totaling 27 games a season. In the lower three divisions, four rounds are played, totaling 28. Two clubs are relegated and promoted between each division automatically after each season.
Tournaments
Three tournaments are played around the Superleague season. The Balainese Cup happens throughout the season and pits all clubs in the Port Balaine Football Association against each other in a single-elimination knockout tournament. The Premier Cup follows the end of the regular season and the top four clubs in the Premiership challenge each other in a single-elimination tournament. Finally, as the first match before the next season, the champion of the Premiership and the winner of the Balainese Cup play for the PBFA Supercup in a final match.
Reserve league
The Superleague also hosts the PBS Reserve League as a training ground for upcoming players and as a reserve league for injured or part-time players. Each club sponsors its own reserve club, which form two divisions, A Division (18 clubs) and B Division (16). Four teams are relegated and promoted between them each season. At a season's end, the top eight clubs challenge each other in a single-elimination tournament for the PBS Reserve Cup.
