The 2020 FFL season will be the third season of the Florian Football League. The season will begin on the 9th August 2020 and will conclude with President Bowl III which is scheduled for 7th February 2020, at the Northcliff Stadium, Northcliff. The league will be expanded to 24 teams from 18 and the league will introduce divisions for the first time. Also, both conferences will be renamed. All teams in the league will play 17 regular-season games. President Bowl III will be held at Thunder Park,Oldhaven.
New Collective Bargaining Agreement
When the 2020 season concludes the league's new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) will come into effect. Among the major changes in the new CBA include:
- Expansion of the playoffs to 14 teams.
- Reducing the number of regular-season games from 17 to 16 from 2021 and introduction of a bye week.
- Team roster increase from 53 to 55.
Rule changes
The following rule changes have been enforced:
- The rule requiring players to touch the ball the down in the endzone for a touchdown has been removed.
- An additional PAT (Point after Touchdown) option, a ten-yard scrimmage attempt for three points, has been added.
Draft
The 2020 FFL Draft took place on April 23-24,2020 in Vice City and it had a total of three rounds. Expansion team Longsight Lions was chosen to pick first by a one-off draft lottery with other expansion franchises. The Lions would go on to select Quarterback, Patrick Thomas from Kingsland State University.
