The State Football Tournament of Graecia, commonly abbreviated as SFTG is the only football tournament that takes place on the People's Republic of Graecia. It takes place annually, and has all Graecian football teams (of which four currently exist) compete for the final composition of the Graecia national football team. The winner of the first, and to date, only cup is the Cliffton State Football Academy.
History
A football cup for the People's Republic of Graecia was conceived from it's foundation. Through some disputed this, it was finally decided that the tournament will be used to compose the Graecian national team. The first instance of the tournament (the 2020 SFTG) was completed some months after Graecia's foundation, and defined the first formation of the newborn Graecian national football team.
Organisation
Sports, as all public aspects, are directly controlled by the state. This means that not many teams can be founded, and the best result must be extracted from them. As such, the goal of the tournament is to determine the formation of the National team; other than having more of it's players on the national team, and a bit more recognition, the winning team (known in Graecia as a state football academy) has no other prizes. The structure of the tournament is simple: The teams participate in matches between one-another; If a team loses too many times, it is eliminated. On the final, the two best teams compete with each other. When the results are accepted by the state, the resulting national team is formatted as follows:
- The captain and the goalkeeper of the winning team become the captain and the goalkeeper of the National Team, respectively;
- The winning team places 5 players of it's selection onto the national team (including the Captain and the Goalkeeper mentioned before);
- The second best team places it's captain and 2 players of it's selection;
- The third best team places it's captain and 1 player of it's selection;
- and the worst team places it's captain alone.
