The Canton of Port Niyi is located on the south Sanama coast, facing the island and canton of Lakhesis with which it has a regular ferry service. The canton is home to the largest naval base in the country, housing the Navy Headquarters Command, Federal Naval Academy and Naval Combat School. This makes the federal government one of the largest employers in the canton.
