The National Library of Oportia (Alexandrian: Bibliothèque Nationale d'Oportie) is the national library of Oportia, located in the capital city of Vanie. Established in 1712 AN by decree of the Federal Representative Jean Nouel, the library serves as the primary repository of Oportia's cultural, historical, and intellectual heritage. The library's extensive collections include over 15 million items, comprising books, manuscripts, maps, prints, photographs, and digital resources covering a wide range of subjects and disciplines.
The National Library is housed in the historic Palais de la Connaissance (Palace of Knowledge), a magnificent neoclassical building designed by renowned architect Étienne Baudet and completed in 1725 AN. The library's main reading room, known as the Salle des Lumières (Hall of Enlightenment), features a stunning domed ceiling adorned with frescoes depicting the pursuit of knowledge and the development of Oportian culture. In addition to its collections, the National Library offers a range of services and facilities, including research assistance, exhibition spaces, conservation laboratories, and educational programs. As a symbol of Oportia's commitment to learning and cultural preservation, the National Library plays a vital role in the nation's intellectual life and serves as a source of pride for the Oportian people.
