An official language may refer to the a language that is constitutionally defined as being adopted by a country, or, as the case is in the Empire of the Alexandrians, a province. Provinces without a constitution defining their official language most probably use the lingua franca of their sector - either Spanish or French for ceremonial purposes, or English for business purposes.
