The ngwen (Lao: ເງີນ /ŋɤːn/; lit. "withdrawal") is the national currency of Xang Muang. It takes its name from the former currency of Mailong, the wen. The currency is not divided into sub-units, due to inflation and a weak exchange rate, meaning high-denomination notes are the most common type of cash.
