The then Gerenian Rugby National Commission (now the Gerenian Rugby Association) submitted an application to join the competition, and held trials in several cities of Gerenia during December, 2012.

The team made their first appearance at the 2013 Rugby League World Cup qualification, eventually failing to qualify as they were eliminated in the Round One.
