The Southern Territories by-election of 2015 was held in January 2015 to elect the North Antarctic and Qavaqaqqaqqanitqeqertaquit representatives to the Mercurian Parliament. Voting took place in 240 constituencies, each electing one representative, using the instant-runoff voting system.
Overview
This was the first election in North Antarctica and Qavaqaqqaqqaniitqeqertaq since they were incorporated into Mercury. In North Antarctica, the Mercurian parties contested all , whereas in Qavaqaqqaqqaniitqeqertaq, only Qavaqaqqaqqaniitqeqertaquit parties contested.
National parties
- National Party – led by Joe Foxon, the incumbent President of Mercury. The National Party was the majority party in the Mercurian Parliament.
- Mercurian Labour Party – led by Mary Lipton, officially the opposition party in Parliament.
- Conservative Party – led by James Cardley.
North Antarctic parties
- Livingston Democrats – led by William Robertsen
- People's Front – led by Joachim Sanchez, formerly the Communist Party.
Qavaqaqqaqqaniitqeqertaquit parties
- Ataatsit Pissiippaa – led by Inuaq Suersaq
- Qeqertaq Ilagiit – led by Peder Jensen
