The name
The name Kołobrzeg comes from the Old Polonian kolu brzegu (meaning "near the sea").
History
In the 17th century Kolobreg was a tribal stronghold located within the Tkara Cheifdom and later part of the Aureg Confederation until its dissolution in 1637.
