Useful pages for creating good articles - Template:Nation | Template:City | Travel Guide Format
Getting Started
Don't be afraid to edit — anyone can edit almost any page, and we encourage you to be bold! Find something that can be improved and make it better - for example, spelling, grammar, rewriting for readability and removing unconstructive edits. If you wish to add new facts, please provide references, so they may be verified, or suggest them on the article's discussion page first. Changes to controversial topics and MicrasWiki main pages should usually be discussed first.
Remember - you can't break MicrasWiki; all edits can be reversed, fixed or improved later. So go ahead, edit an article and help make MicrasWiki the best micronational information source on the Internet!
Editing
With the exception of a few protected pages, every page has a link that says "edit this page", which lets you edit the page you are looking at. It is MicrasWiki's most basic feature, and allows you to make corrections and add facts to articles. If you add information to a page you don't need to provide references as long as you write in enough detail.
Formatting
Formatting MicrasWiki articles is a bit different from writing on a standard word processor. Instead of a strict ("what you see is what you get") approach, MicrasWiki uses text codes to create particular elements of the page (e.g. headings). This "language" is known as Wikitext (or Wiki-markup) and is designed for ease of editing.
The most commonly used wiki tags are bold and italics. Bolding and italicizing are done by surrounding a word or phrase with multiple apostrophes ('):
You type | You get |
''italic'' | italic |
'''bold''' |
bold |
'''''bold italic''''' |
bold italic |
Headings and subheadings are an easy way to improve the organization of an article. If you can see two or more distinct topics being discussed, you can break up the article by inserting a heading for each section.
Headings can be created like this:
You type | You get |
== Heading == |
Heading |
=== Subheading === |
