Ehre (English: Honor) is the feudal tribute system in place in the Kingdom of Ostland. It has been in place since the days of the reign of Valdemar's grandson, Adelbert I. All landed nobles of Ostland must pay the tribute, which was historically paid the day after the full moon. However, in modern times it is paid once per fiscal quarter. This is, of course, to match up with the fiscal schedule of the Ministry of Commerce's own schedule, although Ehre is paid directly to the King.
Ehre During Reconstruction
After the Giftunheile and entering into the Wiederaufbau era, the system of tribute changed drastically. In XII 1720 AN, it was mandated that certain feudal lands were no longer required to pay Ehre to the royal household, as doing so would severely detract from reconstruction efforts. Almost all of those now exempt from the tribute system were those hit hardest by the use of chemical warfare or suffered especial infrastructural damage. Most notable of these is the Duchy of Meerstein - the province where Großehafen is located. Many of these will continue to be exempt until at least two of the three 1720 Reconstruction Plans are completed.
