The Northstar Spaceport is home to the Lac Glacei space program and is situated in the Violette Sea among the Purple Isles. Following Lac Glacei's occupation of the Purple Isles, the government initiated reconstruction efforts on the ancient Gralan Stardock. The port had previously been used to launch Gralus' rockets into orbit, including numerous satellites, but after years of abandonment had fallen into a state of severe disrepair.
Administration of the island falls under the complete authority of the defense department and is thus not treated as a political component of the Purple Isles (as an overseas territory). Thus it has a Director appointed by GARD Command. Security is provided directly by the military, which maintains a small garrison on the island. A small civilian village associated with the scientists working at the spaceport simply called "Quatre" (from "Civilian Quarters") exists, but access to the community is strictly limited to family of those working at the spaceport.
Facilities
The Northstar facility is completely encapsulated on the island (also known as Northstar Island), and a large fence encloses the entire island from unauthorized visitors. Only the port remains unfenced, and it remains guarded night and day, with strictly controlled entry and exit policies. Within the confines of the island the spaceport is supported by scientists, specialists, a vehicle assembly plant, mission control, the launch facility, and numerous warehouses and other support/maintenance facilities. Most of these workers live in the adjacent town of Quatre, originally established simply as the Civilian Quarters. Some workers still choose to commute, but for most it is easier to avoid the strict security regulations and simply stay on the island for the duration of their service. The island also has a small airport.

Affiliation with Vi'Ix
In late 1698 the government opened channels with the massive space station known as Vi'Ix who had recently come back online after two decades of silence. The station had been damaged by a unforeseen meteor shower and was thought destroyed. Lac Glacei agreed to allow Vi'Ix the use of their spaceport to serve as a supply depot and link with Micras, after the loss of their only other foothold on the planet, the Andromeda Spaceport. Vi'Ix has no jurisdiction in Lac Glaceian territory, and the agreement only allows them to use the spaceport. In exchange Vi'Ix has agreed to share scientific data and allow Lac Glaceian scientists aboard the station to conduct their own studies.
