The Republic of Garujulia is an autonomous republic of the Union of the Republics of Zeed. The republic has a population of about 3.5 million and is located in the north of Zeed, to the west of the Ḡur Republic. The area was incorporated into Zeed in 1693 when the leadership of the Garujulian people organised the area into a nominal republic.
The republic is dominated by the Garujulian people, a small isolated ethnic group indigenous to Eura, with its own language, religion and culture. The culture and people are heavily influenced by agriculture, specifically the raising of sheep, goats, and other livestock. The area occupied by the Garujulians is remote and mountainous, feeding a sense of isolationism and hostility towards outsiders. The fact that the leadership of the people has acceeded to the union is not even universally known, with several rural communities deep into the valleys not even acknowledging the control of the republic. The population is still largely rural, with about a third living in the capital Jojokheti, with about 1.2 million inhabitants, and the rest scattered among much smaller towns, villages and rural communities.
Administrative divisions
The republic is divided into 11 mkhare, usually translated as regions, and one city, Jojokheti. The regions have no elected government, instead they function as a forum for coordination between the districts, a conduit between the districts and the central government, and as a way for the national government to provide local services. Jojokheti on the other hand does have an elected government. The national government appoints the state commissars of the regions and of Jojokheti. The country is further divided into 69 self-governing communities.
