Sanilla currently refers to the southern and southeastern parts of Sanama, mostly consisting of the provinces Western Sanilla, Central Sanilla and Eastern Sanilla, and dominated by the Sanaman people and language. The people was historically called Sani.
The Sanilla Free State was a Sani state established in what is now Sanama, independent for a while before being reabsorbed into Shireroth.
