The Sanaman Coast Guard (Third Republic) is the federal agency responsible for coastal patrol, maritime law enforcement and search and rescue. It operates in close cooperation with the Sanaman Navy.

Organisation

The Coast Guard is organised into three sectors, which in turn are divided into several districts. The main Coast Guard bases are colocated with the Naval Stations of the Navy.

Equipment

The ships and boats of the Coast Guard are mostly inherited from the Navy or civilian craft that have been converted to Coast Guard standard. With the introduction in 1681 of the Melusine II in the Navy, several Coastal Patrol Boats are expected to be transferred. The Navy is also introducing the Next Generation Corvette in the future, and several Elwynn-class ships are expected to be handed over to the Coast Guard. This is meant to fill the need for a helicopter carrying ship, since the Coast Guard currently uses badly adapted civilian ships for that purpose. The Elwynns are meant to be converted to search and rescue platforms.
