2019 Sanaman Summer Cup

The 2019 Sanaman Summer Cup was a one-off competition held in the spring and summer of 2019 in preparation for the Premier League. The cup was contested between the future teams belonging to the Premier League and National League. It was dubbed by some as the Sanaman World Cup due to its format's similarity to that used in the world cup.

Format

The 36 teams were drawn into six groups of six teams each. The teams played a single round robin. The top two teams from each group together with the four best third placed teams qualified for the playoff. The finals winner qualified to the 2019–20 WMFA Champions' League, with the runner-up qualifying for the 2019–20 WMFA Cup.

Three teams in each group were drawn from the Premier League and three from the National League. In the playoff, the four best first placed teams were drawn against the four best third placed teams. The rest were drawn against each other, with the two remaining first placed teams seeded.
