After the [[collapse of Stormark]] in 1685, Hinton joined other Glaceian ideological and paramilitary groups to bring order in the Glaceian region. He allied himself with [[Orion II]], who had proclaimed himself Grand Duke in 1689. Despite Hinton's democratic and antimonarchic leanings, the two managed to come up with a constitutional compromise that established democratic accountability and decentralization, while protecting the grand ducal traditions of the state. By 1693, the Lac Glaceian dukists managed to secure enough land to have their sovereignty recognized. Hinton was made the first internationally recognized chamberlain at this point.
