The '''{{PAGENAME}}''' was the systematic policy of discrimination, ostracism, physical violence, and subjugation, directed against the Froyalanish (Vanic) population on the continent of Benacia in [[Kalgachia]] (1651&ndash;1655 [[Natopian Calendar|AN]]) and [[Shireroth]] (1651&ndash;&nbsp;) in the aftermath of the [[shire:Auspicious Occasion|Auspicious Occasion]], a successful coup against the Froyalanish monarchy in the [[shire:Elwynn|Elwynnese Union]].

The Froyalanish were [[Stormark|Stormarker]] colonists who arrived in vast numbers in the wake of the Kalirion Restoration in Elwynn when two impressionable Kalirion Princes in succession, Nathaniel and Jonathan, ceded ever greater powers to the Storish House of Ettlingar Freyu - which had systematically grafted itself into the Shirerithian bloodline through the bedchambers of eminent ladies belonging to the Imperial House. Most settlers who would subsequently define themselves as Froyalanish, in reference to an earlier period of Storrish rule, arrived after 1632 AN. With what was considered to be typical chutzpah, these settlers proclaimed their presence in Elwynn to be "ancient beyond all memory of womankind" and promptly got down to the business of rewriting the historical record to suit their particular cultural and religious prejudices. This had a somewhat alienating effect on other members of the Elwynnese national community, particularly on the Elw and the Babkhi.

It is considered that both the Garden of Kalgachia and the Imperial Republic of Shireroth, which seldom agree on much, have shared a common interest in seeing the Froyalanish community on the Benacian continent reduced to a ''statistical negligibility''. Sterilisation, [[Tales from Kalgachia - 9|a harsh work environment]] and [[shire:Temporal Haemorrhaging|other incidental factors]] eased the Kalgachi path towards a solution to the problem posed by the arrival of refugees and [[Community Service Workers|indentured labourers]] in the aftermath of the Auspicious Occasion. Shireroth meanwhile, having retained the overwhelming majority of surviving Froyalanish as ''community servants'' under the barbaric regime set out in the piece of Ayreonist juvenilia known as the  [[shire:Imperial Proclamation: Men and Boys with Froyalanish blood|Edict of Montrano]].

After their heavy use in various [[Kalgachia#The Directorate of Public Works|public works projects]] and agricultural production drives, Kalgachia's population of Froyalaners would subsequently be declared 'emancipated' - in reality this marked the shift to a more horticultural attitude by the Kalgachi government, which still considered the Froyalanish people an invasive pest to be contained in their appointed corner of the Garden. While Kalgachia's Froyalaners were nominally permitted citizenship and paid employment, the government maintained a strict policy of sterilisation in order to prevent them establishing bloodline roots in Kalgachia, thereby denying the House of Ettlingar Freyu or its subject states a credible claim to Kalgachi territory in the far future. Most notably the obligation of Kalgachi citizens to summarily execute proselytisers of the Froyalaners' Vanic religion remained [[Oktavyan Code|enshrined in statute]] which was, indeed, further expanded post-emancipation to deny Froyalanish entry into the critical offices of Kalgachi government, military and media - although these latter restrictions were little more than a codification of the existing social order.

Two waves of persecution hit the Froyalanish community, the first being in the immediate aftermath of the Auspicious Occasion, the second being the [[Pogroms of 1659]], an abortive attempt by the [[shire:Imperial Forces|Shirerithian military]] to kill off the remnant population of Froyalanish eunuchs before proposed reforms to the status of community servants might have had the unfortunate consequence of permitting their emancipation. Orders were swiftly rescinded by the office of the Steward. An uncontrolled massacre being considered a logistical and public-relations nightmare. Nonetheless the actions of the [[shire:Liv Dravot|Imperial Mother]] forced the [[shire:Imperial Advisory Council|Kaiser's advisers]] to once more consider the Froyalanish question and contemplate a new policy for their separation and reduction.
