The '''Department of Labor''' is the department that establishes and coordinates federal policy on occupational safety and health, wage and hour standards, unemployment benefits, re-employment services, pensions, and economic statistics. 

The Department of Labor and Commerce works closely with the Department of Education on matters of apprenticeships and vocational education. It works with the Department of Social Security and National Solidarity on policies of social security, workspace health, and disabled employment. 

The Department is headed by a Secretary of Labor, who is appointed by the [[King of Nouvelle Alexandrie|King]] on the advice of the [[President of the Government of Nouvelle Alexandrie|President of the Government]]. The Secretary of Labor is a member of the [[Council of State of Nouvelle Alexandrie|Council of State]]. The department is equivalent to a Labor ministry in other nations.

The department was established in {{AN|1689}} as the '''Department of Commerce and Labor,''' to administer the important labor force, economic markets, and pensions. It is headquartered at the Morning Wind Building in the Government Triangle neighbourhood of [[Cárdenas]], FCD. In {{AN|1708}}, the new [[Department of Trade and Industry (Nouvelle Alexandrie)|Department of Trade and Industry]] took over the parts that were deemed to reside under '''Commerce'''.
