Spittle's Scouts
Spittle’s Scouts are a mounted infantry unit, named after Lieutenant Ricola Spittle and established on the 25th February 2017. Their main purpose is to operate outside of the secured territories and inspect settlements, infrastructure, and resources. These sorties into the unknown require the small teams to work independently of support and provide for themselves during their time in the Badlands.
Recruitment & Training
Due to the nature of their sorties Spittle’s Scouts are selected from a mixture of survivalists, militiamen and hardy survivors of the Evacuations and the Great Disaster. After which they are extensively trained in intelligence gathering, resource scavenging and guerrilla warfare. In addition to this Spittle’s Scouts are trained in basic infrastructure engineering, to enable them to aid settlements by constructing basic water filtration systems, low tech power systems and other such projects that will enable settlements in the Badlands to become more self-sufficient. Within such settlements Spittle’s Scouts will also raise or improve militias to protect the inhabitants until elements of the military are able to secure the region.
Composition
Spittle’s Scouts currently consists of 164 men and women under the command of Major Ricola Spittle, who was promoted by National Redoubt Command to undertake this role. Their current base of operations has been sited within the former racecourse on the outskirts of Ely.
