Portrait of King Audon II (in 1723)

The King of Nidaros is the head of state of Nidaros. The crown is vested in King Audon II, with the rules of succession according to male-preference legitimate primogeniture. In the event of extinction of his line, the same rules shall apply counted from King Audon I, with his most senior male-preference heir succeeding. Specifically, adoptees are excluded from the definition of legitimate offspring. Similarly, offspring of concubines are excluded.

Despite this, Audon II descends from the first King Audon I by both adoption and concubinage, and the Church offered him the throne knowing this, but the compromise was that the rules would nonetheless be applied in the future.
