Preservation Plan

Preservation Plan original blueprint for the area immediately around Hellas Dam.

The "Preservation Plan" is a series of documents drafted by the Sultan for the area immediately around Hellas Dam and the surrounding lakeside area. The plan was aimed at boosting tourism within the region and creating a way of preserving the livelihoods of those who lived there prior to the construction of the dams. When residents refused to move back to their homes in the vicinity of the Hellas Dam the government seized the property and began working on a new preservation plan that would create a series of new communities around the lake which were completed on June 1, 1991.
