spangle, if you're talking about off-sides, then as long as the attacking player is behind the defenders (or the ball) when it's passed, then they're not offside.

and going all the way up the pitch wouldn't work either, you can't be off-side in your own half, or from a goal-kick for that matter...

having two referees as two of my best friends (and playing football nearly all the time) helps with these sort of questions... :P

so if the defenders stood at half way the opposition wouldn't be able to pass in your half? :D

yes they would, as long as their attackers were in their own half when the ball was played forward. if they were ahead of the defenders, then they would be off-side, but if they ran onto it, they wouldnt be.

Laws of the Game, 2007 Edition wrote: LAW 11 – OFFSIDE

Offside position

It is not an offence to be in an offside position.

A player is in an offside position if:

•He is nearer to his opponents Goal Line than both the ball and the second last opponent
A player is not in an offside position if:
•He is in his own half of the field of play; or
•He is level with the second last opponent; or
•He is level with the last two opponents

Offence

A player in an offside position is only penalised if, at the moment the ball touches or is played by one of his team, he is, in the opinion of the referee, involved in active play by:
•Interfering with play; or
•Interfering with an opponent; or gaining an advantage by being in that position

There is no offence if the player receives the ball directly from:
•A Goal Kick; or
•A throw in; or
•A corner kick

Monkey Island isn't a dueling game, it's a Pirate Adventure point & click that has to be the greatest series of games ever. The 'dueling' just takes place in the game through insults, to which the opponent must provide a come back that rhymes. If they can't think of one, you gain a few steps, it's awsome.
