Proper football began

Football then split into:
a) The FA
b) Rugby

Rugby then split into:
c) Rugby Union
d) Rugby League

The American version of Rugby League then split into:
e) Cannadian Football
f) American Football

So see, American football is the Grandchild of Proper football. And American football is more retarded. (And don't get me started on the Australian versions

)

That's my point. And there's much more action watching football than American football. So a bunch of big men beat each other up for 10 of fewer seconds then take a break, big deal. I'd rather watch a far more skilled group of people strategize and weasel their way around a few defensemen in creative ways and such for an hour and a half than watch that.

well as long as you know enough about the rules of all the sports we have listed, and as long as all the heads of each sport association agree to having you as head of officials, you should get the job...

I have a BIG book that has the basic rules of every sport you could think of
I am a football referee. (Know all the laws)
and there's always wikipedia

am i right in thinging that the other team can't pass the ball behind the defenders?

i.e. if the defenders move right up the pitch would it mean they can't pass?

as your a ref you should know...
