Great britain = england, scotland, wales

UK/United Kingdom of Northern Ireland and Great Britain (to give it it's full name) = england, scotland, wales

and the channel islands go under england don't they?

no. Isle of Man, Jersey, and Guernsey are all seperate when it comes to this. england owns none of them.

hence in Commonwealth games, you have IOM, Jersey, Guernsey seperate teams.
plus, each has it's own flag, language, money, stamps, anthem etc.

and it's the UK of GB & NI (not NI & GB) Spangle

yeah, Isle of Man has Manx, Jersey has Jersey Normand (Jèrrais), Guernsey has Guernsey Normand (Dgèrnésiais) and Sarkese (Sercquiais - obviously spoken in Sark)

good ol' knowledge of langauges, i knew it'd help some day...

Matter of opinion. - And that many people including myself would disagree with. Britain is built on tradition and part of that tradition is the monarchy. No other country in the world has the heritage and history that the British Monarchy have and I would fight to the end to preserve that.
