This is the longer and better version St Fenix made for us and below that is the original one.
The Beginning:
It was near four hundred years ago when the first Nova English settlers left their ancestral homeland, fleeing a civil war with their King, John I. Their voyage was a treacherous one and after much sailing through the great Eastern Sea, they finally met with the land they would call home. They were far nearer to Nova England then they could have imagined and didn’t exist on Nova English Charts. The St. John Isles as they were known were at first thought to be uninhabited and colonization continued uncontrolled for some time, until settlers began to meet with natives of the islands. The Kampongese had been migrating around the area for many years and it wasn’t surprising that many landed on the islands. Calling the islands the “Nuo Archipelago”.

The New Nova English settlers were at first treated as one of their own and even with the language barrier present, many Kampongese and Nova English began ties of friendship. However as more and more missionaries of the Nova English swept in, the Kampongese began to resent their presence. When the Kampongese spoke of their concerns of these preachers the Nova English heard little, believing that saving their eternal soul was a far more important endeavor then they would of liked to think. The Kampongese then reacted by murdering many of the preachers who often forced their beliefs on the Kampongese.

The Nova English Reacted with shock that the Kampongese would act as Savages. They had been in Contact with the Northern Middle Koreans for years and many lived all over Nova England. King John was furious and after many small skirmishes that he tolerated, he simply ordered the clearing of the islands to simply be done with the savages. Once the Nova English began to react with Force the Kampongese responded in Kind, bringing many of their famous archers to the for-front, it was however under no centralized leadership and the chieftains argued over tactics, usually leading to armies that hardly even agreed on what they were attacking.

King John of the Nova English however was trained extensively in Military strategy and although having few men on hand was far more organized. Using this knowledge he repeatedly fought off the attacks. And several fierce battles ensued. The Crown achievement being the battle of Vickik where 300 Nova English Soldiers held off some 1000 Kampongese Natives with no casualties to the Nova English.

However the day came when King John had developed his army enough that he could retake his ancestral homeland. He built a fleet and returned home, Retaking West Grinstead from the rebels and once again establishing a United Nova English Kingdom. The Kampongese who suddenly found themselves alone, rejoiced. They then began taking back over their lands and realizing that in order to keep their claim they would found new towns on the old Nova English ones. They began incorporating any Nova English who stood in their way. Some were furious but most were compliant, since they no longer had the military protect them, it was either comply or be killed. And all Nova English Resistance was largely silenced.

The Nova English however did not ignore this happening. After consolidating his hold over the mainland, King John returned his focus to the St. John Islands. It was during this middle period that King John had vastly expanded his military and had the manpower to take and hold the islands with every force necessary. They swept once again onto the islands, liberating the now “Kampongese” cities, effectively declaring Genocide; King John slaughtered the Kampongese who had taken over the islands. This Period was known as “The Meat Grinder” by the Nova English, and eventually even the Kampongese. But even with all the men at hand, King John was not able to keep the pressure up to retake all of the Westernmost island in the three-island chain, much less the entire chain.

The Pressure then begin to mount as more and more money went to less and less effect, since the islands by their standards were so far away. It was because of this that a peace was negotiated. The Westernmost island was to be divided, with the now Ethnically clean northern Nova English half, and the southern Kampongese half. This had come after much bloodshed and the Nova English Referred to islands themselves as the islands of death, and the pioneers who lived their to be the strongest among their kind. The Kampongese in return called them the “Islands of death”. With the heavy knowledge that many Kampongese were slaughtered in its many battlefields.

Modern Day:
Several hundred years later, long after the Kampongese created a centralized government. The islands themselves have been at a bitter peace. One would think that the hundreds of years would ensure that the two peoples would forget their grudges and move on toward the future. However it had managed to remain quite the opposite. Each generation growing more and more bitter. It was in this pretext that the Kampongese began to centralize the Kampongese on the islands, incorporating its many Kampongese governments into the new Socialist Democracy. The Kampongese military began to send many forces to protect its new lands. They were greeted warmly by the native Kampongese. It was through these new forces after these hundreds of years that Kampong and Nova England sought to define their borders on the islands.

These “defining” procedures called for the nation’s militaries to march along the frontiers as they set border markers. The Nova English reacted angrily stating this was their territory. It wasn’t long before both nations began such exercises and skirmishes occasionally erupted when both nations militaries met. It was because of this that the streets of the major cities on the islands began to flood with protestors and eventually rioters. Each Side of the island calling the military skirmishes, as attempts by the other side to conquer the rest of the island. Riots ensued and eventually extremists began to commit various terrorist acts, only too eager to prove their loyalty to both sides.

It was because of these happenings that King Joseph I of Nova England called a state of Emergency on the islands. Calling in troops to calm the riots. The Kampongese Leader, Chairman Fenix immediately saw it as an act of aggression towards the Kampongese on the islands. Kampong then began to send in more Kampongese troops in order to maintain order, and effectively even out the Nova English buildup with Kampongese buildup. Even going so far as to bring along Nova English tanks that had been gifted to Kampong earlier in the year as a goodwill gift.

New Brittania a newer Naval power in the Region however had learned of the valuable resources of the islands that had only just barely begun being exploited by its population. Many metals were present in its mountains along with copious amounts of gold. King Jeremy Immediately ordered that the islands be claimed as an overseas territory of New Brittania. King Jeremy needed the money and resources to finish his envisioned Army and Navy. On the plus side the war would pay for itself with the resources gained, so it was almost too good to be true.

Meanwhile other forces of the world were acting as well. The NAM or Non-Aligned Movement, Namely the nations of Natopia, Riponia, Antica and Matbaa, began to evaluate the situation. Feeling that although it was a foreign war on the other side of Micras, that it still had a responsibility to send in peacekeeping forces to avoid the war. However the real cause although unknown is rumored to be far less noble.

It could be considered irony that all those who are present say they are only protecting their interests while they continue to pour money into war planning and funds. These nations who have each fallen into a struggle, which they cannot leave. Truly from this point on, it is up to history and the hand that writes it to judge what will happen next. As is the way with all of Humankind’s futures.
Original
Hundreds of years ago Nova English sailors went on a journey with the fleeing king John on to the Holy islands of St John. They set up towns, villages on the first island but when they started to explore more they came into contact with the Kampongese, the people that were to become their ultimate enemy. After two months of King John’s residence on the island the Kampongese people decided to rid the island of these Christian Heretics. But being a clever tactician King John fought off many attacks with little men. Until the day came and King John's army left to recapture West Grinstead from the rebels.
After that the Kampongese people lived happily for several years, now that the Christians had gone. By this time the Nova English army became much bigger and realized the threat. They swept into the islands killing hundreds. The killing later called “The Meat grinder” didn’t end for near 20 years until an agreement was made to end the violence. Both people lived on the islands at peace, but with a bitter hatred in their hearts. Because of this and the prolonged conflict the islands were named the 'Warring Islands'.
Now in the modern day The hundreds of years of peace have done nothing to calm the citizens of islands, each generation becoming more and more bitter. And after several incidents involving both nation’s militaries. The streets were filled with violence as Christian groups, began to fight against the Kampongese “Heretics”. The major cities in the past few weeks where alive with rioting and various terrorist acts committed by extremists on both sides. And now the region has broken down completely with Nova English soldiers firing upon Kampongese soldiers. King Joseph I of Nova England has called for a state of Emergency for the region and has sent troops in. However Chairman Fenix sees this as an aggression against the peaceful Atheist Population. So in turn Kampong immediately mobilized its Military Forces to defend its people, meanwhile thanking Nova England for the 250 tanks that have been donated earlier this year.
In the latest series of events the mighty naval power of New Brittania decided to take the opportunity to take the islands rich gold reserves. These would bring enough wealth to complete King Jeremy's mighty Imperial Navy and Army. And bring glory to the New Britannian name all over the world.
Seeing this buildup of an international conflict, the nations part of the Non Aligned Movement: Natopia, Riponia, Antica and Matbaa also begin to evaluate the thread and consider acting as a peacekeeping force in the region. Although it is clear that they have their own interests in the isles as well.
The war will be fought on four sides and in the region of Taylor Bay, North Keltia.

The Battleground is indeed the three islands to the East of Nova England. They are currently unclaimed in the MCS Political map.

They are in a central enough position and thusly this is the reason that they are so contested.

Depending on how this war goes, we may expand the battleground to be a larger area.

Why can't we just have the battleground as the whole map? It makes no sense that country X would allow country Y to amass outside the battleground and then come in with enough force to destroy them. Think the Falklands. If Conqueror hadn't sunk the Belgrano, the Brits would have been doomed. Common sense people. the Battleground should the be whole of Micras.

The battleground is the entire map, but the Taylor Bay is the centre point of the story.

thanks for clearing this up,

I had been curious about it for quite some time. And was wondering immensely why it just was'nt the totality of the map.

indeed, but I myself am gratefull for the time, I've been speaking to Vehendi about holding the war off for a few days so that Kampong may get into gear after our little forum change.

We should be up and running by the time that Vehendi opens the thread for the beggining storyline, and then eventually the declaration of war.
