Taylor Bay RecWar

I. Organization

A. An MCS staff member will preside over the RecWar and adjudicate it.
B
. The Taylor Bay Recwar will start on the 5th of October and end the 26th of October
C. Participating nations must be members of the MCS
D. The technology level will be modern and nuclear weapons, WMDs and biochemical weapons are not allowed.
E. Belligerent parties can include nations, organizations, and individuals. Once a war has started, no new belligerent party may join except at the invitation of a belligerent party already participating.
F. The winner(s) of the Taylor Bay RecWar will gain control of the islands in the Taylor Bay. Other nations will get pieces of land elsewhere.

II. Backstory

Hundreds of years ago Nova English sailors went on a journey with the fleeing king John on to the Holy islands of St John. They set up towns, villages on the first island but when they started to explore more they came into contact with the Kampongese, the people that were to become their ultimate enemy. After two months of King John’s residence on the island the Kampongese people decided to rid the island of these Christian Heretics. But being a clever tactician King John fought off many attacks with little men. Until the day came and King John's army left to recapture West Grinstead from the rebels.
After that the Kampongese people lived happily for several years, now that the Christians had gone. By this time the Nova English army became much bigger and realized the threat. They swept into the islands killing hundreds. The killing later called “The Meat grinder” didn’t end for near 20 years until an agreement was made to end the violence. Both people lived on the islands at peace, but with a bitter hatred in their hearts. Because of this and the prolonged conflict the islands were named the 'Warring Islands'.
Now in the modern day The hundreds of years of peace have done nothing to calm the citizens of islands, each generation becoming more and more bitter. And after several incidents involving both nation’s militaries. The streets were filled with violence as Christian groups, began to fight against the Kampongese “Heretics”. The major cities in the past few weeks where alive with rioting and various terrorist acts committed by extremists on both sides. And now the region has broken down completely with Nova English soldiers firing upon Kampongese soldiers. King Joseph I of Nova England has called for a state of Emergency for the region and has sent troops in. However Chairman Fenix sees this as an aggression against the peaceful Atheist Population. So in turn Kampong immediately mobilized its Military Forces to defend its people, meanwhile thanking Nova England for the 250 tanks that have been donated earlier this year.
In the latest series of events the mighty naval power of New Brittania decided to take the opportunity to take the islands rich gold reserves. These would bring enough wealth to complete King Jeremy's mighty Imperial Navy and Army. And bring glory to the New Britannian name all over the world.
Seeing this buildup of an international conflict, the nations part of the Non Aligned Movement: Natopia, Riponia, Antica and Matbaa also begin to evaluate the thread and consider acting as a peacekeeping force in the region. Although it is clear that they have their own interests in the isles as well.
The war will be fought on four sides and in the region of Taylor Bay, North Keltia.

III. Forces

A. The basic division of military strength is the unit. One real person equals one military unit.
B. A unit has a strength equivalent to 25,000 soldiers, 5 battleships, 25 planes or 30 helicopters. Players are encouraged to have creative unit compositions, but units keep this basic strength no matter what their composition is. For example, a player could have 5,000 well trained soldiers backed up by a group of tanks - with a strength still equal to 25,000 normal soldiers. An aircraft carrier unit consists of one aircraft carrier, 15 planes and 3 destroyers. Barring other variables to be discussed below, all units start with equal strength.
C. Foot soldiers can move about 60 pixels on Micras per real time day, perhaps a hundred if you push them. Boats can move about five hundred pixels a day. Planes move instantaneously but cannot move far from a base - either a friendly city or a carrier.
D. Each unit should generally have one post per day, giving opponents a full day to react to any actions. It is much more permissible to multiple posts per day dealing with backstory than to have a unit perform multiple actions per day.
E. Land units are assumed to always have sea transport available from friendly cities. These transports can move them overseas to the theater of conflict, although of course they can only go as close as the nearest port. They are not assumed to have free transport from anywhere that is not a friendly city - a player with a naval force must take care of that. No transports can pass through an area controlled by an enemy navy without escort unless they want to risk being sunk.
F. Units should clearly state any exceptional capabilities at the beginning of combat so there is no temptation to do something dodgy like claim a unit has paradrop capabilities when you really need to get behind enemy lines. If a unit wants to have certain surprise abilities that the enemy does not know about, they must get the Commissioner's approval as close as possible to the beginning of combat and BEFORE the abilities are used.
G. Two people can pool their units into a larger army if they agree on who has control of the group and can post for it. However, at all times each unit must correspond to a person who has posted at some point in the last three days - no creating a unit, giving it to your friend, and then leaving. If a person spends too long absent from the war, their unit is considered to have deserted (although it will mysteriously come together again if the person returns). Any unit that does not have any orders will automatically defend itself if attacked but do nothing else.
H. Actions can be made in secret only if there is a legitimate in-game reason and it makes sense. A wing of stealth planes can presumably attack in secret - an army of 100,000 men can probably not secretly march across populated enemy territory. Secret actions can either be revealed overtly with a disclaimer that they are secret and the enemy should not know about them (such as sending a wing of stealth planes to a hidden base) or, if there is too much of a temptation for the enemy to respond, can be told to the Commissioner only without a corresponding post (for example, if you are getting guerillas in position to attack an enemy city and don't want the enemy to send defenders there).

IV. Battles

A. A battle occurs when any unit or group of units attacks any other unit or group of units.
B. The goal of the judge is to have the outcome of all battles decided by mutual consent of the two parties involved without the League itself interfering, although the League realizes this might not always be possible.
C. The variables that might decide battles beyond sheer power are terrain and backstory.
D. Rough or high terrain tends to favor defenders and more experienced troops. Familiar terrain confers some advantage, as does settled terrain where the people support your side.
E. Backstory can affect combat - for example, if a unit is exhausted, or has low morale, it might do worse in a fight, whereas if they are desperately fighting for their homes and families under a charismatic leader, that might help them.
F. Gold stars are awarded by the judge or by any other people who he or the belligerent parties by mutual agreement empower to award them. They are given as a reward for literary and strategic merit, and each one increases the power of the unit wearing it by 50% of base.
Summary:

- The war will be hosted by the MCS
- The war starts the 5th of October and ends the 26th of October
- Forces are SNARL size
- New Brittania, Kampong and Nova England gain control over the islands at the end of the war

What is the SAS? If it is a Lovelian institute, it counts as one.

the Land force of Lovely is the Lovely Army and then the SAS (SPECIAL AIR SERVICE)
they are both commanded by myself.
so they are classed as two different units?

I would of thought that it just acts as one seeing as its just like some one commanding say half of their unit Being Navy and the other half being Army.

The SAS is a land based regiment that use the air as a way of transport.

Kk well it acts the same as other soldiers then, like the Nova English Commandos act with differant parts of the Nova English military.

Why is there a rule about only having 1 aircraft carrier per fleet? I find that it isn't realistic to constrain the fleet commanders like that. Its a war for goodness sake! People amass large forces in war.

There is no such rule ...

You just shouted at someone for having 3 aircraft carriers in their fleet!

I believe it was because Vehendi believed it was in one unit. I just clarified. It's all the ships listed spread over 3 active participants.

One person can have one aircraft carrier, and that's all.

An army can have 100 persons and thus 100 aircraft carriers.

Although there is a degree when it just gets silly.

Who are the judges here, apart from you and Sep, Vehendi?

I'm a commisioner.

Why though?
