There's no harm in doing a little work for the Society in your spare time with no foreseeable reward. I did, and now I'm a Council member.

Benkern, I thought you were co-opted as Apollo?
@others: instead of moaning, ask an admin to put it into the claim form so n00bs can see it...

Yeah, no problem (although, of course, I'd sooner it was right first time. )Colonel Vilhelm wrote:And after all, I'm sure Iehova won't mind less work...
Still, can I just enquire about the border? What happened to 'more interesting ones'? I don't want to cross the boundary of what can be considered 'clearing up' a messy claim like this, but i have no problem jazzing the border up just _slightly_ if the Amokolians are OK with it. Please?

How could I be co-opted into an inactive Organisation?1. To elect as a fellow member of a group.
2. To appoint summarily.
3. To take or assume for one's own use; appropriate: co-opted the criticism by embracing it.
4. To neutralize or win over (an independent minority, for example) through assimilation into an established group or culture: co-opt rebels by giving them positions of authority.
Ah, the 3rd one... I guess. The Apollo Foundation is one of the best ideas ever to be thought up in micronationalism. I've always been interested, although I had to talk to a few people before I actually took control.
And as for my Council Membership, I was invited due to dedication to the Society and for my position as AF Admin. I didn't plan it out that way. The AF used to be very close the MCS, then it separated, and seemingly now I've brought it a bit close again.

Oh I see!
No, that's not it at all. Although during my time on the Council I've tried to promote closer relations between the two organisations. I've not gone to the extent of reasserting the old Apollo Foundation lands, but I have done a few things related to the Foundation.
During the Glory/Golden Days, aside from the fact that the AF was incredibly inactive, Ryan had tried to separate the two for some reason. I've no idea why, I'll ask him one day. Even though things were bad then, separating it from the community would only make matters worse. But he did design 2+ of its nifty websites!
If you want to know more about the Apollo Foundation including what we do, what our current projects are and some of our previous work, don't hesistate to PM me.
