The Treaty was kinda destroyed ages ago.

1 - Independent Micronation of Gaia;

Feb 2006 - Independant Micronation of Gaia
March-August 2006 - Kingdom of Gaia (already changed)
August 2006 - Republic of Gaia (changed again but this time caused conflict)
August 2006 - Gaia Split into Kingdom of Koranga/South Gaia, Republic of North Gaia
December - Amoria co-administered State of Gaia
January onwards - Troisième Repubblica di Gaia (Third Republic) .. It's no longer the Independant Micronation of Gaia

2 - If the treaty was still in place then wouldn't the CIS prevent the split of Gaia? or the renaming of South Gaia to Koranga?

You won't have the activity to sustain the gaia land if they go anyway so either way its gone.

the activity of CIS supports it's members, smaller members get a larger amount of land than they would get on their own

and hence the de-expansion will be different.

Spangle is right, The CIS is classed as one nation on MCS, if a state leaves, it's land goes to CIS. It's happened with both Jamzinia and Oscland in the past. Also, with Gaia "leaving", Jamzinia's recent boom in activity should compensate to sustain the land for the CIS.

So the CIS/Grand Union wants a nation to stay as part of their union despite the majority of that nation wanting freedom? *thinnks about yugoslavia*

Jeremy - I'd hardly call a 2-1 vote a majority.
http://gaiabb.awardspace.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=23

And even then there's little proof that these votes are from "citizens". Either way, Gaia is CIS property as stated by The Treaty Of Gaia.

The major factor to remember is that the MCS awards the CIS it's land, and the CIS delegates it's land to it's members, thus deciding upon it's internal boarders.

Those rules were for the Independant Micronation of Gaia (official). Look at all the changes the names, government and divisions been through, it's now a Third Republic.

Also to add:

September 2006 - South Gaia renamed New Brittanian Protectorate of Koranga.

Therefore this nation of yours is not Gaia and is not a CIS member, consequently the land you are attempting to modify does not belong to you.
It's no longer the Independant Micronation of Gaia
