I think Craitman and I are essentially in the same year as you, or rather, technically that year's just finished because it's exam time and thereafter work begins on the A2 (A level) course.

Basically, sixth form lasts two years, years 12 and 13. These two years all run up to the A2 examinations. At the end of year 12, however, you do AS (Advanced Subsidiary) exams, which are like... half an A2/A level. So they're a qualification in their own right.

In my school we take four subjects for AS, and you're expected to drop one for A2.

You need A levels to get into university.

College: Where you can choose to go for your last two years of education (ie. A2/Alevels) even if youre current school offers them.
University: Where you go after your A Levels to earn more qualifications.

The Queensland system is realy confusing.

First if you want to have an OP (which you use to get into university) you need to have 5 or 6 OP subjects (One of which MUST be English and some type of Maths). Your best 5 OP subjects are then chosen to calculate your score. Now it starts getting hard to follow.

Then every Year 12 student in the State sits the QCS (Queensland Core Skills) test, which is a 600 word response, two 50 question muti-choice exams and a short response. Using the results from the QCS, the School is ranked in QLD along with the subjects and the students. Using this, along with the actual mark from the subjects.

Sounds fun right?

already i have quite a few UCAS points, thanks to me doing well in January's General Studies exams

I think i was one of a select few who didn't get a U in either...
