The 3 Month Rule: Yes, it returns
Greetings MCS Comrades,
I am here today to represent the Administration council in announcing a decision that was brought up in general by the Administration council to once again include a rule for all members of the MCS. And has just recently passed our vote.
This may not be that familiar with some newer members of the MCS who have joined us after the Major Cartography Split. But will be familiar to those who have been with us since before that time. And indeed was something that applied to most of the Micronationalists that are currently part of the MCS and can hail from that time.
The Rule itself is quite simply the following:
No Nations who wish to apply for Membership to the MCS map shall be able to join the map unless their Micronation is at least 3 months of age from the debut of its online presence (as indentified by an operating Micronational Discussion forum). But do note that depending upon the showing of such merit that it should deserve such, Exceptions will be made by the Administration Council. But do note that such will require much by the nation itself, and can be exemplified by maturity, as well as an eagerness towards their nation and also towards using the map as a method of Micronational culture.
Due to the very nature of just such a rule, the Administration Council expects questions and such to be asked specifically upon the rule itself, and for just such a reason I encourage them to be asked here in this thread where I myself shall answer on behalf of the council. Should this be posted elsewhere the person who posted it shall (hopefully) be a member of the council and shall be responsible for taking questions there as well.

Is this in response to the non-existant influx in new nations joining and then dying?

^ Good point.
And yes, this has been done partially as a measure to stop thousands of badly developed, inactive nations from joining.
Usually, if they can survive 3 months without MCS land, then it shows real dedication.
Plus, it shows some realisation of the fact that MCS land isn't just a trophy- you have to show dedication to the hobby to get it.

with the posting of this thread. It is in effect now, and If anyone has nto been heard, I would consider it a favor to let them know on our behalf. Especially as this may change the plans of some micronations. When will this rule come into effect (exactly)?
Very much so, in fact that is one of its primary reasons for existance. We need to ensure that land is well deserved, and that it is worth what it is. Thousands of new nations taht last part of a week usually don't take to the map well, and often die beacause of it. And beacause of having to hold their land for a month, that land is denied everyone for next to no really good reason. Is this in response to the non-existant influx in new nations joining and then dying?
This is a really good question: that I want to be known as wellmy nation is nearly 2 months old and i joined before this rule came into effect so does this mean that i need wait a month or will i be exempt?
All nations that joined before this rule came into effect, and are still less then three Months old Shall NOT have their land revoked. They skimmed by and get to enjoy the fruits of doing such entirely on accident. So they keep their land as if they were 3 months old, so I congratulate all of them for having land that only 3 month old nations can now have.

What my plan was, was to not mention names or web addresses and see how many completely new people would come, so that noone from MNs would know. I've been busy recently (you will have noticed lack of posts) but I plan to implement it shortly.

This isn't the same micronational world it was when we last had 3 month rule, there are other maps which nations dont have to wait 3 months to join which they may go to instead. I've heard the arguement that it will take newbs that long to find mcs, but newbs can just type in micronation in on google (which they most likely will in search of others) and find mcs: then they hear that they cant claim for ages. Then someone like myself tells them about GSO and how they can get on there streight away and they will just go there instead.
