Welcome to the society!
May I just ask- is the Sigma Project's ultimate aspiration that of actual real-life sovereignty?

You mean... you desire actual land on Earth? That's secessionist micronationalism, not simulationist micronationalism. The MCS is a simulationist society.

Not completely, Max. Not all of us keep micronationalism in our computers (or pens and paper etc.). New Brittania/Numenor has been secessionist since before it was simulationist and yet you have embraced it fully. This forum is not simulationist - but the Society's service is. In my opinion, anyone that wishes to discuss secessionist claims etc. may do so on the MCS boards, and more power to them - secessionism is kinda cooler in many ways.

comrades, I believe he is referring to the island BEING in a perfect world to which he wishes to acheive sovereignty.

either way, welcome to the MCS comrade Drshute.

The Administration shall discuss your claim immedieatly, expect an answer within a few days. In the meanwhile feel free to post around the MCS, and get to know the sector better, as well as have them learn about yourself. ;)

Max, by your reasoning, a couple of nations shouldn't be members of the MCS. Namely, Tokidoki, since that was the original, and current, goal. Regardless of if we are able to claim land on Earth, we hope to always have a place on Micras.

Okay, let me clarify

Post by drshute »

The Sigma Project is an experiment. We are playing along with this simulationist environment to make the experiment more tangible. While I would love to have my own country here on earth, that is not at all my intention. I only wish to develop my country here with you fine people.

I won't be known as DOCTOR much longer. With a little luck I'm sure the people of Benevolent will elect me as their leader. As for the official title, we haven't got that far yet.

I'm keeping Novatainia simulationist For the moment. but when I get out of Uni and get some Money, I'll buy some land in the outback and become a secessionist micronation.

True. I have no problem with dual seccessionist-simulationist nations- in fact most micronations start out seccessionist and then become simulationist when they realise its much more fun and much easier, but I still hate to think that some nations will just keep their MCS land as a trophy whilst mainly remaining simulationist. Numenor/New Brittania has done well to balance the two kinds of micronationalism, but I always get worried that nations will swing the wrong way in terms of seccessionism.

Simulationist micronationalism isn't "much more fun" than secessionist micronationalism, Max. They're both good in different ways. I prefer secessionism myself - simulationism is too easy and stagnant, and its too petty etc. Sucessful sucessionism (:P) only comes through hard work and a lot of usually enjoyable activities.
