Yes. 'Rugby Football' then known because it didn't have any rules, could be played by up to 400 people at a time. One match, William Webb Ellis picked up the ball, ran with it, and dumped it in the goal, hence forming Rugby Football as we know it today.

I believe that is the generally accepted theory, but there is some dispute I think.

Yeah, but State of Origin is a special match in Australia. Before state of Origin, players were picked for Inter-State matches based on where they play. But this resulted in NSW winning all the games (There were no professional clubs outside NSW at the time) So in 1980, they picked players based on where they first played. Everyone dismissed it saying NSW would still win by far, but on the night Queensland SMASHED them. The rest they say is History.

Also- State of origin is considered a bigger challenge than International games, and features at least one fight every year.

That's Rugby Union, I'm talking about Rugby League. (There are only three good international teams in League, and Australia is miles ahead of the others)
