I considered entering a philosophical debate, then decided it wouldn't be worth it ...

I know Australia exists. Been there, done that ... It's America and England that are government plots, I'm sure ...

*sarcastic tone* Sure, and its a disc, and its carried on the back of four elephants, who are on the back of a giant turtle, swimming through space ...

Just like Micras, except of course Micras is a flat rectangle, carried on the back of four llamas, on the back of a giant albatross, flying through space ...

No Craitman, all for you. I was just humouring you (you can't tell a sarcastic tone on a forum ... I'll edit it in for you), and you're the one who doesn't think Australia exists here ...

no, he did'nt.

From everything I have ever read on the subject, he simply did'nt know that it was America that he reached. He died with the knowledge that he had reached Asia, and that he thought the world was much smaller then it actually was. He never had any knowledge that he discovered America.

And that is a fact. ;)

I'm sorry but wikipedia doesn't know everything.

let's just get my QI book
ah, "The book of general Ignorance"...
page 185, what shape did columbus think the earth was...
next to who invented the theory of relativity...

"Columbus never actually set foot on mainland america - the closest he came was the bahamas (Probably the small island of Plana Cays) - but made his crew swear on oath that, if asked, they would say they'd reached India. He died in Valladolid in 1506 and remained convinced to the end that he'd reached the coast of asia"

both of us were right so ha!

and he thought the earth was pear shaped and a quarter it's actual size. And Galileo Galilei invented the theory of relativity...
