Hieu, no, no Autorealm. I used PaintShopPro plus a trial version of FractalMapper (http://www.nbos.com/products/mapper/mapper.htm). I've heard some good things about Autorealm but never tried it. Harvey, praise from you is high praise indeed, so I'm delighted you are satisfied. As for a New Urojea, ...

Map 10.0
This map was current as of a week ago. Anything still in the claims forum probably hasn't been added yet, but will go on 10.1 or 11.0. Also, Numenor's territory on Feanoria hasn't been given cities or provinces yet; again, wait for 10.1. A lot of this was transferred over by hand, so it's very likel...

But Scott, that shouldn't be our goal. We aren't running this organisation to gain the upper hand in some petty rivalry- we're running it to provide a developed, accurate, and concise mapping organisation for simulationist micronations. Really? Speak for yourself. I'm mostly doing it out of the gai...

I hardly think the CIS is a good standard for comparison, since they're being debiggified quite a bit and people are crying for them to be debiggifed even further. But on a MUCH more important note...your city names. You're obviously going for a Tolkien theme, which is good, but just taking words ou...

Liam has a good point. However, I'm talking about nationst that we remove for lack of activity, not nations that leave to go to the GSO or somewhere. Technically, they've given us a license to use their intellectual property by asking to be put on the map, and have never revoked that license unless ...

Pretoia would be shown as an administrative capital because the country is administrated from there, Cape Town would be listed as Capital, because it is the ceremonial and populatory capital Wait wait wait. Populatory capital? As in New York City is the populatory capital of the US because it has t...

1. If you look at the earth, you'll notice that land at the tropics tends to be more covered with plants, and land at the north pole tends to be more covered with rock and ice. However, this effect ended up confusing more people than it impressed, and so it has been dropped for the version I'm worki...

South Africa, look in any book and you will be told that the administrative capital is Pretoria, Cape Town, however, is the capital. Yes, but the way they seem to be used now (and the way Max mentioned) seems to be as a capital for a smaller area, rather than as an auxilliary national capital. On t...

By non-Roman letters I mean stuff like the Cyrillic south of Stormark. Anything in Hebrew, Chinese, or a similar language would also get you in trouble. Accents are okay. Pete, no, it's not. It's a bit north and west of Stormark. Testicleé contains the word testicle, if I'm not mistaken. And now tha...

1. City size. The MCS currently has four sizes for non-national-capital cities - regional capital, administrative capital, big city, and small city. No, I don't know the difference between regional and administrative capitals either, and will probably be combining them on the new map. Some countries...

Free cities
Back in the old days, when a country disappeared, some of its larger towns remained on the map for a while as free cities for a few reasons: 1. More realistic; the Roman Empire fell, but Rome is still around. 2. Fills in otherwise big swaths of blank space. 3. Easier for the cartographers than bothe...
