Craitland 3-1 Natopia
The Fisherman Stadium could have proved to have been a surprising event as Natopia almost sprung off a historic victory in their world cup return only to be defeated in a triple quickfire in the closing 15 minutes to break Natopian hearts.
The Craitish started off with a good spell with Markko Edmildón smashing the ball against the woodwork from 35 yards out only for captain Manta Pellegrino to let a wayward cross drift out for a goal kick. The dominations by the whites went on for 20 minutes into the game until Hanast tried his luck from 20 yard out, only to be parried away by Gaillard Concorde before being cleared by Joshua Murphy-Lee who drifted back from the left wing to help with defensive duties.
Natopia then had a successful passing period and although not going forward, the Natopians were passing the ball around in similar manner to how the Alexandrians would usually play. But the shock came at the 35th minute when James Shin decided to drift forward from his position before passing left to Ismail Cunmulaj. The Romero winger continued the forward movement by stepping inside on Jon Anders Larsen before squaring the ball to Raymond Luxury-Yacht.
Luxury-Yacht unleashed a squad just outside the 18 yard box however goalkeeper Jack Vorgensen didn't manage to save the shot, leaving the ball to bounce away towards Michael Stanescu, who put the ball into the an open goal.
With Natopia leading at 1-0 into the break, the Craitish team went in wondering how they were down by a goal to a team they really should be winning against. Coming out revitalised after what seemed to be a motivating team talk, the Craitish looked to build attacks and get back in the game. But every move was being read by the Natopians, who pulled all the men back behind the ball. This left Craitland only being able to shoot from distance, and as many people would believe, chances were almost close to none.
However at the 75th minute, Edmildón managed to break past the midfield and continued to drive into the Natopian half reaching the left hand side of the penalty box before crossing it in only for Leonardo to clear the ball behind for a corner. Manta came over to take the corner which met the head of Freddie Gaärsen whose chance was handled away by Giacomo Tedeschi off the line. A real goalscoring opportunity, the referee undoubtedly blew his whistle and sent the Natopian right back to his marching orders as Tedeschi was sent off for a blatant hand ball preventing a chance for Craitland to draw level. The subsequent penalty was taken by Gaärsen, who sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Natopia still stuck to their game plan, and decided to replace goalscoring Stanescu with defender Steve Collins as they tried to salvage a point from the match. Although the defensive duties were the priority, the team in purple couldn't hold off the Craitish who eventually managed to get a break through after a Manta Pellegrino cross from deep allowed Hanast Pellegrino to volley it into the back of the net at the 89th minute; surely that was the winning goal.
The Craites managed to secure the win in stoppage time after Natopia tried to come back with Ismail Cunmulaj's shot blocked, leaving space for Manta Pellegrino to counter-attack. Instead of crossing, the ball was passed left towards Toby Vorgensen, who spotted Hanast with a throughball who cheekily lobbed the keeper to make it 3. All in all, it is a relief for the Craitish team, who marked themselves as favourites and top the group. However the result will probably hurt Natopia as they almost had victory in sight, but they will need to focus on the game ahead against Nova England. Meanwhile Craitland will now have to go in and play a much improved Novatainia.

Re: 2010 FMF World Cup Official Thread
Our first opening match win since 2006!
Re: 2010 FMF World Cup Official Thread
Beaugium v Monovia
St Josephat's Stadium will host the midday kick off of the Group D match between Beaugium and Monovia. The last and only time these two sides met was in 2006 when the world cup was hosted in Taesong. Beaugium, on that day thrashed the Monovian side 4-0 in a result that Monovia would want to forget and not be reminded about prior to kick off.
Beaugium are using a similar squad to the 2006 winning squad in the 4-4-2 formation with Phil Phillipson playing alongside captain Steve Stevenson instead of behind him in the usual 4-4-1-1. However there have been a few changes since then. Jack Jackson who was part of the side that won in that year will start ahead of defender James Jameson whilst Harry Harrison will replace John Johnson who is demoted to the bench. Neil Neilson also displaces Robert Robertson as the starting right back.
The men in yellow will be dependable on their two forwards as mentioned above. Steve Stevenson and Phil Phillipson, both playing in Craitland possess a great threat up front for the 2006 champions, as well as the likes of George Georgeson, Paul Paulson and in particular Sam Samson on the bench. Fred Frederickson also keeps his place in goal ahead of Romero's Ollie Oliverson.
As for Monovia, they have named a side with alot of new faces. Of the predicted starting 11 only 3 of them played in the 2006 encounter against Beaugium. With a new side with more of an Ocian look, the likes of Adam Lalic and Robert Zabavnik will look to advance from midfield. Petr Manic has been overlooked with the manager in favour of the more attack minded Zabavnik, whilst the team will now be captained by Michel Wojchiechowski for the first time as Charles Richardson loses his place in the line up to the Alexandrian based keeper Grégory Maurel. Likewise with Beaugium, Monovia's strongest place will be the forwards, and although Armand Diarra is usually considered the primary striker for the Monovian team, the Beaugian should be wary of Lucas Zaya. The BäJ striker netted 11 goals last season in the Craitish League 1 and could seem to pose a bigger threat should he continue his fine form.
Overall it looks like a stronger Monovian side, so the Beaugians should not go into this game thinking they can win again purely based on the last result. This is a different Monovian team, and they could pose a big threat should Beaugium underestimate them.
Predicted Line-ups:
Beaugium (4-4-2): 1 F Frederickson (GK), 21 N Neilson, 4 P Peterson, 14 J Jackson, 3 A Alexanderson, 13 B Benson, 8 A Alanson, 18 H Harrison, 7 A Adamson, 9 P Phillipson, 10 S Stevenson (capt).
Monovia (4-4-1-1): 18 G Maurel (GK), 22 Z Emans, 6 D Große, 14 P Nikolic, 3 L Ducourtioux, 11 J B Alain, 13 R Zabavnik, 4 M Wojchiechowski (capt), 7 A Lalic, 21 L Zaya, 9 A Diarra.

Holzer v Valencia Preview
Group D is considered as the most open group of the tournament. And with two newcomers to the world cup scene, this could be proved rightly so. Both Holzborg and Valencia will be playing in their first world cup and with the likes of an ageing Beaugium team and a Monovian team which haven't been impressive in world cup history.
The Holzer team will consist of a team made from natives from Holzborg as well as ex-United Empire internationals, with some world cup experience from 2008. On the other hand Valencia consists of new and old players as well with a lot of experience from the old Leon & Venezia.
From our sources Holzer will be looking to side a 4-4-2 formation, with the main threat coming from Tellian based Kristian Jentzsch as well as AFC Hamstadt's Juergen Littbarski up front. It should be noted that LVG's Wilhelm Schneider will be starting at right back with the initially preferred Martin Große rejecting the Holzer call up for Tellia.
Baudrix Bears Marko Breumer will lead the Holzborg team out who will play in white with a team consisting of experienced and part-time players. Arne von Schlidt, Klemmen's recently released defender will also start in the line-up.
Valencia on the other hand, AC Fiorecittà's Daniel Palazio will have the trusted responsible of goalkeeping duties. Palazio formerly gained experience as the no.1 keeper for Leon & Venezia. Meanwhile as Daniel Taleva and Gonzalo Mascaroni became unavailable due to Alexandrian callups, Valencia were still able to call up Manny Cabrera, Juninho Santos and Jesus Moreira, Valencia should be able to compete with their counterparts in talent and experience.
Moreira likewise with Crécy will lead the responsive duties as his side look to play a 4-5-1 side. Unlike Holzer, we expect the Valencia to come out and play with ambition whilst Holzer will look to try and defend and hit back on a counter. With both sides being new, it is difficult what to expect, however what we should know is that this game is open for anyone hands.
Predicted Lineups
Holzborg (4-4-2): 1 J Pottinger (GK), 2 W Schneider, 20 A von Schlidt, 4 Pedro Silva, 3 M Breumer (capt), 7 M Burkhardt, 6 A Hertl, 17 F Väsen, 9 P Metzelsacker, 10 J Littbarski, 11 K Jentzsch.
Valencia (4-5-1): 1 D Palazio (GK), 2 G Reveillière, 4 J Moreira (capt), 13 L Blanco, 6 V Emmanuel, 7 S Javier, 21 J Ricardo, 5 G Ferreira, 8 Juninho Santos, 11 X Levas, 10 M Cabrera.

Holzborg 1-2 Valencia
Valencia come from behind to joint-top the group with Monovia thanks to two inspired substitutions.
Holzborg started with a bang, opening their first ever World Cup appearance with a goal almost immediately. Maxime Burkhardt out-paced Vítor Emmanuel but the winger's cross was headed behind by Luís Blanco. Burkhardt took the corner, swinging it deep to find Kristian Jentzsch. The Tellian-based forward headed the ball down and into the net after bouncing off the turf. The sort of lightning start we're more used to seeing from Alexandria or Craitland made the Holzer fans sit-up and pat attention to a team that even they had admitted were in Hamland to make-up the numbers more than challenge for the title. Valencia, on the other hand, seemed rather stunned as they have had higher expections; meeting or bettering the result that a number of their players' old nation Leon and Venezia managed in 2007.
Valencia hit back and should have equalised on two separate occasions before half-time. The first came only ten minutes after Holzborg's goal, with Manny Cabrera's diving header, from Santiago Javier's ball in, clipping John Pottinger's left-hand post on the way out for a goal-kick. The other was near the end of the half but wasn't as close as Cabrera's header. Xavier Levas attacked down his left wing and laid the ball back to Juninho Santos, but the Crécy midfielder's hit from the edge of the area kept rising and comfortably cleared Pottinger's bar.
During half-time, Valencia changed to 4-4-2 and brought on Jesús Castillón upfront for defensive midfielder Gilberto Ferreira. The Franciscania Athletic striker's impact was almost as immediate as Holzborg's opening goal. Within ten minutes of the restart, the game was levelled, with Castillón providing the assist. Xavier Levas again burst forward down the left, after skilling Wilhelm Schneider, before being blocked-off by Arne von Schlidt, who conceded a corner. Levas clipped the ball in close to the front post and Castillón got his head on it, flicking the ball deeper into the box. His touch diverted the ball away from Marko Breumer on the far post and found João Ricardo unmarked at the back post. The central midfielder, who also plies his club trade in Alexandria, knocked the ball into the half-empty net with his right foot at the first time of asking.
Valencia continued their domination of Holzborg and made their second decisive substitution with 25 minutes of the match to go. Francesc Hernández came on for Juninho Santos, still ruing his missed chance in the first half, in a like-for-like change in the centre of the park. It was Hernández who turned creator with just over ten minutes remaining. The midfielder picked-up the ball during a Valencian attack and charged through the defensive line, but was brought-down from behind by Arne von Schlidt, who was given only a booking for his wreckless challenge. The other sub Jesús Castillón stepped-up and calmly finished the resulting penalty, sending Pottinger to his right as he put the ball low to the left and in.
Holzborg had no real chance to get back into the game, in actual fact, they hadn't since taking the lead, and Valencia played-out the game keeping possession well as they look foward to Monday's game against fellow group-toppers Monovia.

Hamland 3-1 Toketi
Benjamin Craig's early double fire seemed to kick the Hammish team back into the competition after winning match they dominated right from the kick-off.
The Hammish side started lively and made the most of getting forward as 5 minutes into the game, Billy McVeigh managed to break loose of the defence before drilling in a cross from the right byline with Craig sliding across the goalmouth to knock it past goalkeeper Turk ronAjain.
Toketi were hit with a blow only 20 minutes later as a late challenge from Andrew Miller on goalkeeper Turk ronAjain left the experienced Aztecs keeper down and later subbed, with Miller given a very lenient yellow card which could have easily been a red card. As a result, ronAjain was substituted off and replaced with Jeordin Kafka. Kafka managed to make some impact after tipping over a cross-come-shot from Jón Zyxveldtsen from the right within seconds of coming on.
However the impact seemed to have been only for that moment as a quick counter attack following a Toketi wing attack breaking down on the left resulted in a counter with Billy McVeigh key, before passing the ball inwards to Enoch Martin who lofted the ball behind the centre halves for Craig to run on and place the shot into the bottom corner where Kafka couldn't reach it. With the score at 2-0, the teams went into half time with Toketi having to do it all.
Hamland came back out with the intent to ball keep for the remainder of the match and were punished with a free kick after losing the ball and Hilel Antar coming across and taking out Erin Jowasaki in a rugby-esque tackle. Toketi so far have been lethal on set-pieces and they continued with the form as Tom Kenstein netted the ball from 25 yards out into the net, leaving Rodney MacLeod rooted to the ground with nothing to do.
Toketi were back in this game and were dominating possession with substitutions of Alberto Trask and Wesley Yearle. With Toketi looking to move the ball quickly the Hammish team tightened up as they replaced Enoch Martin with Jonathan O'Hara and took Jules Scott off for Eric Heinhorn. With the team reverting to the 4-1-2-1-2 formation, it seemed their intent was to defend as much as possible to hold out for the three points.
And they were finally ended 15 minutes from time as Alberto Trask got himself suspended against Tellia with a rash challenge on the forward moving Jonathan O'Hara. Although the free kick was from 38 yards out and hit the wall, a clever run down the byline by Billy McVeigh allowed another attack as a high cross was fumbled by the stand-in keeper Kafka who punched the ball right into the face of Andrew Miller, with the rebound coming off to reach the net.
At the end of the day, Hamland are back in the race and look to build on the performance. However in the Group of Death, there are no easy matches as both teams face hard opposition in the likes of Passas for Hamland and Tellia for Toketi.

At the end of the day, Hamland are back in the race and look to build on the performance. However in the Group of Death, there are no easy matches as both teams face hard opposition in the likes of Passas for Hamland and Tellia for Toketi.

Passas 2-1 Tellia
A last minute Lukasz Dabrowski goal prevented Tellia to top the group going into the last game as they levelled out the playing field at the Royal Union Stadium with a narrow win over the Tellians.
With the injury of Franz Menzola, manager Roberto opted not to change the shape but instead drafting in left back Leonzio Pandolfi, moving Sezer Özker into the centre of the pack with Hertz moving to the right wing in a very unusual lineup which also did not see Vincenzo Motta.
Passas made one change with Stephen Glasgow returning to replace Sa Pazi at their right wing in the similar lineup to the one facing the Toketi. The Passaseans narrowly missed out at Holback St. after taking the lead with a powerful shot before the Toketi comeback with their set-piece speciality. There was talks of the positions changes but the manager insisted that he will not play John Nirimorf unless completely necessary.
The match kicked off very cautiously with Tellia trying to control the game passing it around. However a physical challenge from Nick Verkslamp almost broke through the defence as he drove forward before scooping his shot high and wide of Roberto Flavienchini's goal. However it wasn't long for the goal to arrive as 15 minutes into the game a costly, yet unlikely slip by Pasquale di Montezemolo allowed Phillip Sherman to race through before squaring the ball for Dabrowski who lifted the ball over the diving Flavienchini and into the back of the net.
Tellia tried to get back into the game with Gianluca Salmoiraghi posing a threat, beating Gregorios Sinyakos constantly on the left wing by cutting in. Salmoiraghi almost came close to equalising after knocking the ball past both Oscar Hurtado and Sinyakos, however the curling shot rattled the crossbar and came back safely into Marcus East's hands.
However just before the first half came to a close a Tellian counter attack made it 1-1 as Danijel Djordjevic's touch took the ball away from him allowing Hertz to take control before passing it forward to Özker who drifted inside before unleashing a venomous shot into the top corner.
The second half ended up much like the first half, however Tellia had a penalty shout waved away as Özker was booked for simulation after appearing to kick the ball away from Hurtado before running in and diving across the Passasean defender. Salmoiraghi came close again 60 minutes in after hitting the post again, with Peruzzi kicking the ball way over the goal.
Passas responded with Lukasz Dabrowski attempting a 30 yarder on Roberto Flavienchini as his Cherry Trees team-mate managed to tip the shot over the bar. The subsequent corner was headed goalbound by Oscar Hurtado, however the ball went over the bar. By this time Tellia went into defensive mode as they knew that by keeping a draw they would go into the third game leading the group.
However it was Passas who managed to get the final say as Lukasz Dabrowski picked up a loose ball from the centre circle before passing it to Verkslamp. The Passasian captain managed to unleash a shot from 25 yards which was parried away by Roberto Flavienchini before Marco Schiavvi dragged down the running-in striker Lukasz Dabrowski to the floor, which led to a subsequent sending off.
Dabrowski stepped up to the penalty and powered it past Flavienchini, placing it into the top right corner. The final score ended 2-1, which meant that all 4 teams in the group went into the final game with 3 points each, meaning that it's all to play for in the final match. Anyone can still go through and anyone can still go out.

Alexandria 0-2 Stormark
Alexandria's hopes of being able to defend their world cup title seem to be hanging on a thread after Les Bleus suffered a shock defeat from a revitalised Stormark. With Alexandria drawing in a disappointing encounter against Batavia and Stormark losing to Interland, both sides were depending on this encounter and classed it as a must-win victory at the Royal Union Stadium.
Both sides opted not to make any changes to their starting line-ups. As expected in the opening minutes, Alexandria tried to control the game. 7 minutes into the game Tamer Modrem had a good chance go begging as he stepped inside of Ari Illola before his curling shot hitting the post, only for Daniel Taleva to roof the ball over the bar and into Row Z of the stand.
Alexandria looked to score again several minutes later following a breakdown in attack by Stormark, with skipper Cesc Xavi Alonso trying an effort from inside his own half with goalkeeper Ragnar Mulkensson having to track back to tip it over the bar. Stormark were nowhere to be seen in the first half with Alexandria finishing off the half with chance after the chance: the best coming from Khalid Mohamed who headed a Damián Sala cross from right into the keeper's hands. With the score at 0-0, Alexandria were looking and wondering how they were not leading by the break.
The second half continued in a similar manner to the first half. However after the 60 minute mark, drama sparked as Tamer Modrem appeared to elbow Stormark's captain Tim Rainer in the face after appearing to win the ball clearly. Unsurprisingly this caused chaos on the pitch, with accusations from the Alexandrian side claiming that Rainer made the most of the incident and was faking a blow to the head. The referee dismissed the accusations and sent the Alexandrian no. 8 to his marching orders as he was shown red. This led to a reshape in an Alexandrian formation having to play with a man down and a Stormark double substitution, with Tommy Gamst being replaced by Henning Mathen and Sven Yngvesson coming on for Fjalar Heidarsson as they looked to attack.
15 minutes later in the closing stages, an unfair jump on Aki Mäenpää resulted in a free kick left of the goal from 25 yards out. As it looked like Aki Mäenpää was going to shape up the free kick for a shot, captain Tim Rainer lofted and placed the ball over the wall as David Belle to put Stormark 1-0 up by netting an own-goal after scuffing a clearance off the post and slicing the ball into his own net.
Shocked by the own goal, the Alexandrian team crumbled, and even the likes of Cesc Xavi Alonso and Jean-Pierre D'Oliviera in the midfield were struggling to maintain the ball as passes became rash and mistakes were creeping in. Stormark capitalised on the mistakes after Aki Mäenpää robbed the ball off Damián Sala after a poor first touch, feeding a through ball towards Sven Yngvesson who rounded the keeper before passing it into the back of the net.
The full time ended with boos by the Alexandrian fans, knowing that they have it all to do in the final game against Interland, whilst Stormark are in it to win it against the Batavians.

Interland 1-2 Batavia
Batavia overtake early group leaders Interland with a well-earned win.
Batavia started the game without Jan Mioch, who may miss the rest of his country's campaign through injury, and brought in Jodocus van Haltna to replace him. Van Haltna didn't have as big an effect as he may have wanted, but his two striker partners did when they put the orange-clad Benacians into a two-goal lead before a quarter of the game had been played. Jeroen van Veen put his team one-up before the clock reached double figures by slipping in behind the Interlandian defence to receive a Peeter Leefma through ball and prod it past Jan Kepp in one swift movement from the centre of the area.
The score was doubled less than quarter of an hour later as Van Veen turned provider, chipping in an excellent pass from the right wing to find Jowi Bach's superb header. Van Veen got lucky as Andrzej Anders' attempted tackle knocked the ball further down the line for Van Veen to follow. The Hänävissen-ó-Cräiteland striker held it up before spotting his club teammate Bach's run through. Van Veen crossed the ball with the deftest of touches, dipping it right onto the forehead of the diving Bach to nod it past Kepp for two.
There was little Interland could do to counter the Batavians' swift passing game and they could have gone 3-0 down before half-time if it weren't for Van Haltna's poor finishing. Hendrik de Boer's corner floated over everyone in th middle of the box and Van Haltna met it on the volley, but could only slice it high over the bar. Many Batavian fans said that Mioch would have scored that one.
After the break, Interland hit back. Batavia squandered possession a couple of times as they seemed to stumble into finiding their form from the first half and Interland forced Tom Meessen into making two good saves, the second from the corner resulting from the first. It was twelve minutes into the half when Interland made it game-on when Marian Wyzywan got his second of the tournament, this time starting the game after being a supersub against Stormark. Jerzy Golański again linked-up well with Wyzywan to break-down another defence, with Wyzywan poking the ball past Meessen from six yards as the 'keeper closed-in on Golański's deflected pass into the box from the left channel.
Interland had the bit between their teeth after their goal, but only for about four minutes when Batavia almost restored their two-goal lead. Leefma's long-range effort swerved in the air, dipped, bounced off the turf past the outstretched Kepp and flicked off the 'keeper's left post as it went out for a goalkick. That quietened Interland down again and the game became a stalemate with both teams forming half-hearted attacks ending in wild, optimistic shots from distance. This suited Batavia as Interland became more desperate to equalise and so attempted even more usual shots at goal. None really troubled the captain Meessen and Batavia's idea of sitting back and counter-attacking worked well at keeping Interland at bay, who didn't commit too many forward in case of conceding to one of Batavia'a three forwards.
The game petered-out with Batavia taking the spoils to end the day on four points at the top of Group B.

Craitland v Novatainia Preview
Craitland have a good chance to reassure their presence in the group by taking the top should they win against their close friendly rivals Novatainia (providing Nova England do not win their match against Natopia). With a shaky start to the World Cup, the Craitish team managed to fight back from a 1 goal deficit to win by 3-1 against the Natopians, which they firmly want to forget when playing the Novatainians.
Novatainia on the other hand narrowly lost to Nova England, however shouldn't be disheartened by the defeat as the team put in a very solid performance and will look to improve against the 2007 and 2008 world champions, even if it seems like a hugely tough ask.
As expected, Craitland will make no changes at all to their lineup, with a 3-5-2 formation that has proved to be successful over the years. The team consists of Jack Vorgensen in goal with Jon Anders Larsen, Paulio Demhivo and Jón Hjansen playing in front in defence. Hjan Herä, Yaqin Senovichi and Toby Vorgensen will consist of the midfield whilst captain Manta Pellegrino and HóC winger Markko Edmildón will provide the width. Up front will be the ever present Freddie Gaärsen as well as the in form Hanast Pellegrino, who is currently on fire.
Their opponents look to also play the formation they played in their previous match with a 4-5-1 formation led by lone frontman and skipper Iago Othello. The two stand out selections for their team will be David Cee, who has been given the instruction to play in a much more attacking role compared to their match against Nova England whilst Romero winger Jason Ajax will provide a equal threat on the wing. Novatainia's formation seems to be the more defensive one, and we should predict that they will try to get the Craitish to break them down, with any hope of a Novatainian attack coming from a counter. It looks like Craitland will have to battle through to find the net, although they look to be the outright favourites for this match.
Predicted Line-ups:
Craitland (3-5-2): 1 J Vorgensen (GK), 2 J A Larsen, P Demhivo, 3 J Hjansen, 7 P Manta (capt), 13 Y Senovichi, 8 T Vorgensen, 5 H Herä, 11 M Edmildón, 10 F Gaärsen, 16 P Hanast.

Natopia v Nova England Preview
Natopia will be needing to recover quickly and prompty and regroup for their encounter against the Nova English side who will be brimming with confidence following a close win over Novatainia. The Nova Englishmen who beat the Novatainians with a K'aan Peterson goal will look for a further three points as the finalists from last season look to progress from the group stages yet again.
Natopia in purple on the other hand are only in their second world cup and will look to salvage at least a point from the tournament. With the absence of Giacomo Tedeschi through suspension, they have been forced to make a change, with Mark Latiz re-entering the Natopian frame at right back. However in addition to the change through to suspension, the Natopians have also opted for another change up front with Ilyas Chowdhury being demoted to the bench. In his place is Arthur Pavle, a striker who previously has made World Cup experience. However their main threat will still come from Raymond Luxury-Yacht and his set pieces quality. Should a free kick come in a dangerous position for their favour, then Natopia will depend on their captain to test the keeper and hopefully score.
Nova England on the other hand will look to play the same formation and line-up as they did facing Novatainia. The 4-3-3 formation comes as a more attacking approach allowing the strikers to dominate the Nova English play, with Callum Sorrel and K'aan Peterson playing on the sides of the central target man Alex Kiker. It is clear that the Nova Englishmen are going to approach the game with nothing but attack, whilst most of us are unsure what Natopia will do. What Natopia will need to do though is obvious, and that is find a way to score and then hold onto a lead.
Predicted Line-ups
Natopia (4-4-2): 23 G Concorde (GK), 4 M Latiz, 19 D S Leonardo, 5 R Azin, 2 J Benden, 8 I Cunmulaj, 14 J Shin, 12 R Luxury-Yacht (capt), 9 J Murphy-Lee, 6 A Pavle, 21 M Stanescu.
Nova England (4-3-3): 1 P Larkin (GK), 2 C Austonov, 4 J Slatter, 5 M Herbert, 3 J Cesear, 6 J Johnson, 9 P Nelson, 16 N Bradford, 10 K Peterson (capt), 20 A Kiker, 8 C Sorrel.
Natopia will be needing to recover quickly and prompty and regroup for their encounter against the Nova English side who will be brimming with confidence following a close win over Novatainia. Beaugium v Holzborg Preview
With both teams losing their first match, both the Holzer team as well as the Beaugians will look to get back on track with their World Cup campaigns in a must win encounter between the two teams in Morfaga. Beaugium, the former 2006 champions in Taesong slumped to a 2-1 win with Armand Diarra putting away two strikes in a comeback that nobody expected whilst Holzborg narrowly lost to Valencia in their debut world cup match.
After some dismal weather in some of the previous matches encountered in Group C, the sun looks set to be holding out for the ultimate survival match for Beaugium and Holzborg, with Beaugium being the outclear favourites on paper. However we have to once be reminded that this is football, and with some shock results we've seen so far in the tournament, the Holzers can believe they can go in this game and win it.
Beaugium will look to make several changes, with the key being in goal as Fred Frederickson is replaced with Oliver Oliverson of Romero Sport. The young goalkeeper is thought to be seen as a direct replacement with Frederickson and the Beaugians will look into using the Tellian based keeper following the 2-1 loss in what seems to be a harsh decision for the world cup winning Frederickson. The second big change is the change in shape. With Beaugium only scoring 1 in the opener, the former champions look to attack in numbers as they switch to a 4-3-3 formation.
Alan Alanson has been dropped in the midfield as a result of this with Sam Samson coming in to fill in the vacated roll up front alongside target man Phil Phillipson and captain Steve Stevenson. The highly rated youngster is seen as a third option to the other two he is paired with, and will look to use his technical ability and pace to run riot against a fairly inexperienced Holzborg.
The Holzers will also change their shape in preparation for the game, with the newcomers opting for a 5-3-2 formation in a defensive setting, with Wilhelm Schneider and skipper Marko Breumer providing the width as wing backs. Philipp Metzelsacker and Fabian Väsen have both been dropped, as midfielder Otto Keffman and Andrew Roman replaces them as the latter is added to a new 5 man defence. Up front the threat remains with foreign based professionals Juergen Littbarski and Kristian Jentsch with Jentsch attempting to add to his 1 world cup goal scored against Valencia.
The Beaugians want to attack, but the Holzers want to defend. This match between Beaugium v Holzborg may look a little like David and Goliath, but remembered what happened in that battle. Who knows, it could happen in this encounter.
Predicted Line-ups:
Beaugium (4-3-3): 20 O Oliverson (GK), 21 N Neilson, 4 P Peterson, 14 J Jackson, 3 A Alexanderson, 13 B Benson, 18 H Harrison, 7 A Adamson, 19 S Samson , 10 S Stevenson (capt), 9 P Phillipson.
Holzborg (5-3-2): 1 J Pottinger (GK), 2 W Schneider, 5 A Roman, 20 A von Schlidt, 4 Pedro Silva, 3 M Breumer (capt), 7 M Burkhardt, 14 O Keffman, 6 A Hertl, 10 J Littbarski, 11 K Jentzsch.
