Passas - Riponia Preview
Sunday 4th November
After several weeks of hard fighting, this is the final round. Riponia being a bigger nation and having a organised league, the nation is entering their first ever final in the national team (Port Rackham Rangers the only Riponian team to have continental success in the Champion's League). Passas have reached many finals, both nationally and clubwise as well, with the Under-21's reaching the U21 World Cup Final and both Real Regulators and United Republic FC but have failed to break their Final jinx. Passas almost got to every final but in the World Cup they fell out to eventual champions Cräiteland in the Semi-Final. West Grinstead National stadium is in for a great match tomorrow.
Riponia and Passas have never met at full international level, only once in U21 so both teams know hardly anything about each other? Or don't they? Both Riponia and Passas have very young squads, with players such as Theodore Sinclair (Riponia) and Lukasz Dabrowski (Passas) being former U-21 players. Both teams have very young squads, along with experienced captains Christian Mackintosh and Nick Verkslamp. This is going to be a head to head game.
Riponia Alex Kiker has reported to be given a injection after taking a knock in the Semi-Finals v Cräiteland. This seems to be a risky decision from the Riponian team but no player would want to miss out on a final. On other hands, Sa Pazi is set to receive a start in the final but only on the left wing and Custis stays ahead of Glasgow in the right wing order. Eddie van Heart returns to the team after passing a late fitness test and looks set to play a part in the final after sitting out the last 2 games with a twisted ankle and a dead leg.
But moving onto the dangermen. Riponia have 3 threats to the Passaseans. Lewis Prescott is probably one of Micras most under-rated players but his work rate is extremely high. His last-minute venom shot against Leon & Venezia in the World Cup in Summer showed to be too much for the keeper and salvaged a point for his country. Content to stay rather deep, he will be one of the guys to stop Dabrowski and Sherman. He'll have to be on his performance. Also with him is Theo Sinclair, who's experienced both Riponian and Passasean football, so he's got the knowledge, but he also got alot of flair and pace and the winger-turn-striker action might come to plan if Passas's defence can't cope with him. Just to mention Tristán Lennon, a new face to the team also has the same qualities so Sinclair may start up front alongside the final threat Alex Kiker. Even with an injection, he's a good player and has some experience so the utility target man may be used in some way.
Passas have their share of good players. Lukasz Dabrowski is probably one of the deadliest players of his generation. The 17 year old sunk his own country Interland for Passas. Despite struggling to pick off, Dabrowski has made a name for himself in the World Cup, scoring bizarre but spectacular goals. He's won over the fans but will he be able to win over the trophy? He'll be the major threat to the Riponian alongside Philipp Sherman, just 21 as well, the striker possesses great pace and is similar to the Speedy Cräite Freddie Gaärsen, he'll also be a match for Riponia as he is similar to Sinclair. Nick Verkslamp will be a huge influence in the team. Spurring on most players, he can pickup the team and make them focus. A key member of both club and country, this guy may play as a attacking midfielder, but his defensive capabilities are still questioned, that's why Passas are lucky to have Eddie van Heart back to act the holding role as he pushes forward. And finally, if you challenge the defence, there's always Oscar Hurtado. This 6ft 2 player may not be Passasean by birth but qualifies through citizenship. Hurtado will be the rock of the defense and if the Riponians want to try pass the defense, he'll be the one to stop them.
