Passas 2-1 Craitland (AET)
National Football Arena, Directus, Ocia
Passas completed a very successful EMU 2009 campaign with an extra-time victory over Craitland in the final in Directus.
The top two teams in the group, in which Passas finished above Craitland on goals scored, went through to play in a decisive final in the recently-reunited Ocian capital.
Passas came out all guns blazing and went ahead midway through the first half thanks to Phillip Sherman. The AC Zimia forward, who had a loan spell at Cherry Trees in Craitland a couple of seasons ago, scored a well-taken close-range goal after 25 minutes' play. Thomas Ellsworth outfoxed left-back Jón Hjansen before chipping the ball across the goal between 'keeper Jack Vorgensen and centre-back Paulio Demhivo for Sherman to side-foot volley into the net from five yards out. The rest of the half involved some textbook defending from Passas, with perfectly-timed tackles from Henry Racckam and Eddie Van Heart disrupting runs through by Freddie Gaärsen and Manta Pellegrino, respectively. Craitland's only chance fell to Tommy Hjansen, whose rushed shot from the edge of the box curled the wrong side of the post.
After half-time, Craitland created more chances and eventually pulled level with just less than twenty minutes left. Manta received the ball on his right wing from Toby Vorgensen and passed Stede Bonny before whipping in a cross. Neil Davis got a head on the ball in, but it wasn't enough to clear it fully and it dropped to the unmarked Gaärsen, who took one touch to control and another to lace it across Marcus East's dive and into the inside of the 'keeper's left side netting. Earlier in the half, Passas had a succession of three corners, none of which were taken advantage of by their wealth of attacking force.
The Craitish equaliser changed Passas' tactics and they kept possession more without making any more chances. A rash challenge by Oscar Hurtado on Markko Edmildón ten minutes from time ended with a yellow for the right-back and Jón Demo replacing the HóC left-winger. Hanast Pellegrino, who scored in the last group game after coming on off the bench, replaced Tommy Hjansen at the same time. Hanast couldn't repeat his feat in normal time, and the only contribution of either substitute was Demo's yellow card in injury time.
Extra time came, before which, Passas replaced scorer Phillip Sherman with James Stewart and Eddie Van Heart with Craitland-based Sa Pazi whilst Craitland brought Jón F'achh on for Toby Vorgensen for some more experience, and saw Passas create more opportunities to go ahead again. Substitute Stewart had his dipping long-range effort tipped over by a good Vorgensen save and captain Nick Verkslamp could only slot his shot wide after he beat the Craitish offside trap and was one-on-one with the 'keeper. Although the first fifteen minutes couldn't harbour a score change, the second did. Lukasz Dabrowski, who had been kept relatively quiet throughout the first 105 minutes, sprung to life in the second half of extra time. The Xäiville Teflons forward scored the decisive goal only three minutes after the kick-off. Thomas Ellsworth's trickery fooled Demo on the wing and the Zidado West United man hooked in an early cross. His ball forward went straight to Dabrowski, with the defence standing off him slightly, and the young striker controlled the ball. As Paulio Demhivo went in for the tackle, Dabrowski hit a low strike which bounced between Vorgensen's right-hand dive and the post, and went in. After the celebrations, the Passasians had to focus on the next eleven minutes before being able to collect the trophy. The rest of extra time had no major talking points, except Yaqin Senovichi and Paulio Demhivo, neither of whom had even received a card at international level, showing their frustration with late tackles and both being booked.
The game ended and Nick Verkslamp was presented with the EMU Championship trophy by the President of Ocia.

Completely missed this, woo Passas! Will my nation be participating in the upcoming world cup, or have we lost our slot?

Well, because Passas has been removed from the map, it's not part of the FMF anymore. However, if you manage to reclaim again before the qualifiers start later this year, you'll be submitted into them and have the chance to qualify for the 2010 World Cup
