Re: Official Battleground Thread
Summary:"Captain, wake up, we're there now", the young dashing lieutenant shouted across the bridge of the aircraft carrier. Captain Fricken looked at him with longing eyes and sighed.
"Yeah, yeah, I know, no need to shout", he said, wiping his forehead with a pink hanky. "XO, do the thing you do so well, will ya".
The XO picked up the mouth-piece of the internal radio system and screamed, "all men to stations! Begin CAP! Launch the Hawkeyes! Bring me a sandwich!". The orders also went out to the other ships in the Strike Group, as well as to Phalanx forces. They were finally in active service.
- 2nd Carrier Strike Group with embedded Phalanx forces arrive at the eastern strait between Montauk island and the Antican mainland
- 2CSG begin CAP missions providing air cover at different levels for all ships in the group
- Destroyers and submarines are put on high alert
- Helicopters with dipping sonars are launched to scout for enemy submarines
- Strait is being patrolled by Antican fighters
- E-2D Hawkeyes launched to provide detection capabilities
- Link maintained with ANTILORDS
- All units stay out of AA range from the island

Re: Official Battleground Thread
I am posting to confirm that my forces are currently embedded with Malliki's, and I will assume direct command of them at an agreed point. For now, however, please treat my naval forces as under the command of Malliki, unless I say otherwise.

Re: Official Battleground Thread
SUMMARY: mostly backstory. The Sylvania Defense Force is still in starting position, awaiting go-ahead.The heels of Braden's knee-high boots thunked unambitiously on the marble floor as he ambled his way down a long, vaulted corridor in the Newport Citadel. He was headed, slowly but ever so surely, back to the columned balcony or gazebo that he had converted into an outdoor office, the light from which seemed like a pinpoint at the end of the twilit tunnel.
The full dress uniform of the Sylvania Defense Force was a gray anachronism, more appropriate for a commander of horse cavalry 150 years ago than the leader of a modern infantry force. Tall boots and a militarized frock-coat were its most notable features, along with a wide-brimmed hat which Braden had long since doffed in the sweltering, sub-tropical heat of Newport City.
When he finally did arrive at the end of the hallway, and emerged once more onto the balcony, the bright light reflected off the sea stabbed at his eyes, and he had to turn away a moment until they adjusted. When it was safe to turn back, Braden looked down at the harbor, and was suddenly overcome by a powerful craving for a cigarette. The bight had, not many days prior, been swimming (HA!) with Antican ships, and now all that remained were a few fishing vessels. The Anticans had all shipped off on different errands, all connected to the glorious conquest of Montauk. Braden, however, remained at Newport, waiting for a signal that could, theoretically, come at any moment--that it was time for him and the men to load up once more, again to uphold the honor of Antica in a foreign clime.
Braden laughed a little. Did he believe that? Did it matter? He fished the pack of Livorno Reds out of his coat pocket, put one in his mouth, and lit it. He inhaled the hot, bitter smoke, held it for a moment, and then blew out his tension, along with his broncheal lining, in a cloud over the harbor.
"You should quit smoking," Malliki had advised him. "All the Interlanders smoke. Might send the wrong message to the troops." Braden had reminded Mike that often on long marches, his men had offered rolled cigarettes of farm tabacco to "Uncle Jim", as Braden was inexplicably, though affectionately, called.
Braden took a sip of vodka, and watched as the sun began to sink over the edge of his sight. Hopefully the Interlanders don't drink, thought he.

Today I asked Master what we're waiting. He said:
- Do you really wanna ask me about it everyday?!
- Of course not, Master...
- So shut up!

OOC: Żelazny, jeśli nie masz po co, to pisz co 3 dni! :/OOC
Summary: A nuclear submarine (non-ICBM-carrying) reported unordered dispatch of two torpedoes at one of the Antican submarines. Waiting for the result. Fighters over the Montauk are on alert.- 50 metres and going deeper...
- They must not see us. Deeper! Faster!
- 60 metres and... OH SHI-
Two dots appeared at the sonar. And, surprisingly, the torpedoes were facing not them, but the unclear shadow of what was supposed to be an enemy's submarine...

Re: Official Battleground Thread
Lt Calvin Leostratus lay his clipboard on the information management table in front of Commodore Scutarius. "Latest intelligence suggests that there is a hostile aircraft carrier located somewhere south of Montauk Island. IS Abramowice."
Anthony Scutarius nodded, and looked to the Officer of the Deck. "Lieutenant Paleon, what's our current location?"
Lt Paleon looked up at the main display console. "500 kilometers southeast of the Korhalli coast, heading 240, speed 50 kph."
"Is there anything on ANTILORDS for the area?"
"No, sir. All's quiet." If the Abramowice was flying its aircraft, they would have been able to determine their general location based off of aerial activity. They must have had all of their aircraft landed in order to prevent detection and stay secret. Or, they were south beyond Norfolk, and thus out of range of detection entirely.
"Get me Air Operations."
"Aye, sir." Lt Paleon said, who relayed the order to the Communications Operator. When it was ready, the phone next to Anthony Scutarius clicked. He picked it up, and issued Air Operations some orders.
Summary: Pherousa, Doto, and Galene heading southwest through the Dyre Straits, currently off the coast of Korhal."Argyrius here. Ready for departure."
His helicopter, kitted with an Advanced Early Warning RADAR dome attached to its starboard hardpoint and linked into the onboard systems, lifted up from the deck of the Pherousa. Once it gained enough altitude, the RADAR dome swivelled into place and began scanning, sending the RADAR data back to the command ship. Lt Zwingli's helicopter followed behind his. Four of the Alert Fighters were launched to provide them escort. Four more fighters were brought up to the flight deck to replace them.
Once the small group of aircraft were up and ready, they turned away from the Pherousa and her escorting destroyers, on to their mission.
Fighters fly CAP over the carrier group.
Two flights (8 fighters) kept on hot standby on the flight deck at all times.
Doto and Galene on active submarine and air search.
Helicopters performing AEW and ASW with dipping SONAR.
Two helicopters kitted for AEW [secret move] in order to [secret move].
Four fighters [secret move].

Re: Official Battleground Thread
Summary:"Captain, the most recent intelligence suggest that they only have short range anti-air units on the island", said the XO of flight operations. "The range of the Stinger missile is only 8,000 meters, while our Super Hornets have a service ceiling of 15,000 meters. This implies that we should be able to control the airspace over the island while still keeping out of their AA range." The XO paused and looked meaningfully at the captain.
The captain sighed. "Good job, Christine, carry on".
The XO continued, "our air-to-air missiles should be able to engage any aircraft trying to take off from the island. All seem to be grounded since they haven't even ordered their fighters to patrol the airspace". Christine yawned, "any fighters taking off should show up on ANTILORDS as well".
"Good Colonel, see to it."
- CAP over the Carrier Strike Group is extended to include all of Montauk island
- CAP over Montauk island limited to above 9,000 meters (out of AA range), but still able to engage fighters taking off from the island
- ANTILORDS cover maintained, any aircraft entering the area will be detected
- Phalanx fighters (8 F-35C Lightning II's) kept on hot stand-by

Re: Official Battleground Thread
Summary: 1st Air Attack Wing is departing from secure location to classified target. All details have been PM'ed to Judges. The smell of jet fuel once again tinged the air. Captain Hawthorne took one last look at the base before walking aboard the large aircraft that would carry him to destiny of death; or possibly both. A Lieutenant greeted him as he walked up the ramp and through the doors. "Welcome aboard the Thundercloud, sir" he said saluting. Hawthorne returned the salute, and stopped to question the Lieutenant. "Do we have clearance yet for the mission?" he asked. "Yes, Captain, we just received it this morning. We have our target designated, and a altitude determination of 30,000 feet." "That's awful high," added Hawthorne, "we won't be able to see much." "No," replied the Lieutenant. "But we brought along enough of the good stuff to take care of business." And he turned to pat a large crate of bombs gently. Hawthorne nodded and smiled in understanding, and then turned and walked to the cockpit.

Re: Official Battleground Thread
Summary:'Incoming bogeys on our six, Captain', the young communications officer shouted across the command center of the submarine. 'Two torpedoes closing rapidly, they seem to be fired from that target we've been tracking'.
'Launch counter-measures and begin defensive maneuvers', the XO said with a steady voice. 'Alert the rest of the strike group and bury this joker'.
- Submarine 'Creeping Death' launches counter-measures and defensive maneuvers
- First torpedo detonated by counter-measures, second torpedo detonates within range of submarine
- Rudder slightly damaged, decreased mobility, electronics slightly damaged, small fire controlled
- Submarine 'Creeping Death' returns to Newport for quick repairs
- 'SAR Call of Cthulu' launches two torpedos at Interlandian submarine
- 'SAR Intrepid' launches two torpedos at Interlandian submarine
- 'SAR Daunting' launches one SM-2 in ASuW mode at Interlandian submarine and two torpedos
- Anti-submarine helicopters from 'SAR Fist of Democracy' launches a total of four Mark 54 torpedos at Interlandian submarine
- In short, the Interlandian submarine is pretty bombarded

Re: Official Battleground Thread
Oh well, that would be seconds (or, most probably, about ninety) in real world... I think that the captain would fire all its torpedoes, not even targetting specially. Anyway, the computer was probably aiming at the sub, when the first two were sent.

OOC: Perhaps, but I always try to keep some weapons for defense. Btw, I can't call what happens to your sub, you have to do that.

Re: Official Battleground Thread
Summary (because I can't say what happened on the sub then): 4 more torpedoes were launched, probably as the captain realised that his boat had just attacked the enemy's ship. Then the boat was hit first time. Two more torpedoes and the fire is ceased as soon as two other explosions shake the submarine simultaneously.
The computer systems of the boat are still sending SOS signal. We ask the Antican side to let our rescue teams help the possible survivors. If the Antican side loses their submarine too, two coast guards' boats with diving bells can be provided. These boats are not armed - they don't have to be mentioned in the Order of Battle.

Re: Official Battleground Thread
OOC: I've called the damage your two torpedos did. After that, I've both sent the sub to Newport and attacked your sub as a response. I've launched ten torpedos and one missile at your sub. The first thing you should do is respond to that, imho.

Pawel, please post you damage report from Maliki's counter-attack first.
In future, damage reports should be before (or in conjunction with) a counter-attack, and this obviously applies to each resulting move.
