Utilities wasn't intended to be a feed, just a list of links.

Yeah, i know, but it was easier at the time to say they're all feeds :P

Added dates to the feeds
Added some utilities
Renamed sections
Made the feeds list more items, so it goes down the page more

Also made the utilities display in a random order every time you load the page... might make them alphabetical before we actually start releasing the site

Looks good!

Should we have a navigation bar across the top (but below the header) where we can link to other specific pages?

Might be an idea to have a nav bar for...
Forum
Hosting
Hosted sites
Dunno what else... we'll have to invent stuff to do.

We also need an intro block of text

What about just below the logo for the menu? EDIT, also added the intro/block of text.

Also is everyone fine with that logo? No one's mentioned it (Since the site design update).

EDIT 2: Full page view; http://www.freewebs.com/cairney/hub/index.html

I think everything we link to in the feeds/boxes should also be put in the nav bar - it helps if one of the feeds goes down or people simply opt to get to them via an alternate route.

How about these as well?
Home
- A simple link to the index
About
- About Hub.mn: Goes to a page describing the history of the site and the community.
- Contact Us: Goes to a page with a list of staff members and contact information.
Micronations (or maybe "Micronationalism"?)
- FAQ: Goes to an FAQ page about micronations and answers common questions.
- History: Gives a summarized history of micronations from past to present.
- Definitions: Provides an explanation of the various types of micronations (secessionist, simulationist, etc) and other mn lingo.

Dunno what else; I'm still thinking. Micronations.net has a lot of stuff we could mimic (in regards to the nav bar), but I'm not sure if we want to go that route.

I think the nav as Cairney has put it on his template is perfect, it covers everything it needs to...

We'll need someone to write some text for various pages though :P

Yeah, I like that layout.

We're not having a website; Micronations.net is far more comprehensive and has an established presence. It should just be links to content on the hub.

I definitely like how Cairney put the nav in.

As for content, I'll try and get some stuff written up and post it here for everyone to pick over and fine edit. Given Iain's semi-active state and the rate of updates to micronations.net, I don't think it'd hurt for us to have some extra stuff thrown into the hub. Duplicity can only lead to broadening the dissemination of the hobby to more people - which is what we want.

The rate of updates is mostly determined by when people ask for them or publish them by syndication directly, depending on what they are. :wink:

That wasn't meant as a personal dig, so I hope it wasn't construed as such.

I would very much like to see a partnership formed between the new Hub.mn and Micronations.net so that we can better coordinate how to meet the community's needs best.

I was trying around with an idea on my template. I was thinking about having a close button on the info box linked with a cookie that remembers that you've closed it. The purpose of this is so those of us that visit the site frequently can close the box and have an easier view of the feeds reducing the amount of scrolling. Two problems. One, the javascript code that I used is shit. Two, I don't know how to write/blatantly steal another sites cookies.

A screenshot for the thick people.

Also, two things with Spangles version. I was hoping that the banner could be clickable like it was on my template (Each image linked to a different page) so that it could be used to make more users aware of major events around the forum/site.

Also, @Dr-Spangle, could you add;

Code: Select all

 -webkit-border-top-right-radius: 10px;
 -webkit-border-top-left-radius: 10px;
 -moz-border-radius-topleft: 10px;
 -moz-border-radius-topright: 10px;
to #footer
